Does Naomi Take Place In The Arrowverse?

The CW has been anchored in large part by its TV shows based on DC Comics properties for about a decade now, beginning with "Arrow" in 2012. The show kicked off what is now known as the Arrowverse, which consists of other series in the same universe such as "The Flash," "Legends of Tomorrow," "Superman & Lois," and "Batwoman," as well as "Supergirl" and "Black Lightning," which recently ended their runs. But new shows are coming in to fill the void, and the latest DC series to enter the fold is ...

After years of development, Andy Muschetti's "The Flash" is finally racing into theaters this year. Based on the iconic "Flashpoint" storyline, Ezra Miller's Scarlet Speedster will journey into the DC multiverse for an adventure that could have ramifications for young Barry Allen's past, present, and future. However, before he crosses the finish line and onto the big screen, this version of the Fastest Man Alive will star in his own comic book series that will act as a prequel to the highly anti...

A Step By Step-Ball-Change Guide To The Peacemaker Intro Choreography

James Gunn is not your typical comic book adaptation director, and the spin-off series "Peacemaker" is no exception. Filled with gruesome violence, NSFW dialogue, a refreshingly pointed political message that racists are villains who deserve to have their asses handed to them, and fearless critique of DC Comics' golden heroes, "Peacemaker" is Gunn at his absolute best. In a stroke of pure genius, the "Peacemaker" opening credits sequence capture the essence of the series by introducing the chara...

NFT Artists Struggling with Piracy Issues

Nonfungible tokens or NFTs are all the rage in the creator community. Unfortunately, artists are struggling with piracy as criminals use their work to create NFTs without their permission. NFT Artists Struggling with Piracy Issues The piracy issue of NFTs is a big problem for artists that have their content online. This is because anyone can take content that is online and create an NFT out of it. And the artist might never know an NFT was created from their work, especially if they don’t kno...

John Cena The Wrestler Never Impressed Me – But I Love John Cena The Actor

I have been a fan of professional wrestling for nearly three decades. My fandom began in the early 90s when my cousin Christopher introduced me to the World Wrestling Federation. Unfortunately, he passed away in the mid-90s, so he was unable to go on the journey with me from the Federation Years to the Attitude Era, World Wrestling Entertainment, and beyond. But one thing that I did pick up from him was a distaste for Hulk Hogan. When it came to favorite wrestlers, we were firmly in the Ultimate...

The Peacemaker Opening Credits Are Incredible

Opening credits sequences began as a functional part of film and television. They existed simply to let the audience know the title of the thing that they were watching and the creatives involved with it such as the production company, the writer, the director, and the main stars. However, as time went on, they would evolve to set the tone for the movie or the show they were preceding. There are even some opening credits that have become just as iconic as the characters or the shows themselves."...

‘Peacemaker’ Star Danielle Brooks on Joining the DC Universe: ‘I’ve Never Seen Anyone Like Myself in This World’

“Peacemaker” stars John Cena as Christopher Smith, the titular costumed vigilante so committed to fighting for America that he doesn’t care who he must kill to save it. New trailer for James Gunn and John Cena's Peacemaker is a bloody delight

Spinning out of James Gunn's recent Suicide Squad reboot/remake/whatever you call the sort-of third movie in a series that's not really concerned with continuity, the upcoming Peacemaker miniseries focuses on the eponymous hyper-patriotic fascist douche, perfectly played by John Cena. The show launches later this month on HBO Max, and this trailer has me even more excited to see James Gunn flex his most vulgar filmmaking muscles once again.

Let's celebrate one of the first Black comic artists

Comics have been experiencing a diversity boom for a long time now. While there were always females and creators of color in comics, their names aren't championed as loudly as their white male counterparts. Take Karen Beger, for example. Without her guiding influence over DC Comics in the 80s, we would've never gotten Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, or the Vertigo imprint. — Read the rest

Slugfest Trailer: New Roku Series From The Russo Brothers Chronicles The Rivalry Between Marvel And DC

You remember Quibi, don't you? The short-lived, bite-sized streaming experiment came to a sudden and very predictable end in December of last year, robbing us of the expensive streaming experiment that would've given us attention span-challenged viewers all the minutes-long content (a term I don't use lightly) that nobody ever really asked for in the first place. We're not here to wallow in the loss of Quibi, however, but to celebrate the arrival of a series that was originally destined to be sh...

The End of the Beginning of the End of Marvel Comics - an editorial

People have spent a lot of time talking about the health of DC Comics this past year or so especially after they fired a lot of their staff and  AT&T threw up the bolus of Time-Warner it was choking on, but Marvel, while ensconced in the big fat arms of Disney, is at much at risk. Recently, comics in their kids lines were published by IDW starting in 2018, but that deal was canceled this year. And we also saw Marvel actually dropping some titles like Fantastic Four that they didn't control the m...

Why Superman is more like Moses than the Jesus allegory that Hollywood can't let go of

DC's been struggling to make a Superman movie work for a little over 30 years. Man of Steel was a modest hit, but it fell short both critically and commercially compared with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. The knee-jerk response is to say that "Superman doesn't work anymore" and move on. — Read the rest

Black Adam Director Says The Movie Will Change How Superhero Films Are Made

Dwayne Johnson don't need no stinkin' fake muscle padding on his superhero costume, and that's just one way that he and "Black Adam" are looking to shake things up. Zestworld is trying to shake up the comic world

Manga sales are trouncing American comics in every conceivable metric, and it's safe to say that the industry needs some profound reinvention. For decades, fans have noticed a steady decline in sales while prices skyrocketed. Coupled with the fact that children—choosing manga instead—now represent one of the smallest demographics for the medium, the entire industry is undoubtedly on shaky legs. — Read the rest
