Singer Azealia Banks Goes on Tirade After Being Banned From Aer Lingus

She was attempting to fly from London Gatwick to Dublin aboard Aer Lingus flight EI233 on Monday. She says an airline employee was starting at her, but the employee complained to the captain claiming Banks made threats. Ultimately she says being "singled out by the haggard old white ladies" keeps happening to her -- she was caught on video melting down after a Delta flight in 2015 - because of "the long weave and the Louboutins" and she stands out. Delta 4 rocket launches NROL-71 spy satellite after a month’s worth of delays

The National Reconnaissance Office's latest classified spy satellite, NROL-71, was launched today by a United Launch Alliance Delta 4 Heavy rocket into California's sunny skies. Today's trouble-free countdown at Vandenberg Air Force Base came in contrast to the string of technical glitches that held up liftoff by more than a month. The original launch date had been set for Dec. 7, but the technical issues — including concerns about a hydrogen leak on one of the engine sections — forc...

The Boeing 717 was once a failed plane airlines didn't want to buy. Here's why it's now my favorite jet. (BA)

The Boeing 717 is a slightly offbeat aircraft that went out of production in 2006. Boeing chalked it up as a failure, a result of absorbing some McDonnell Douglas planes when it acquired the planemaker in the mid-1990s. But the 100-seat 717-200 is now in serious demand as carriers move away from regional jets. I recently flew on a Delta Air Lines Boeing 717 from Newark to Detroit. It was my second time flying on this great aircraft. I've flown on many big aircraft and plenty of small ones. I'...

From travel to IPOs, how shutdown is upsetting U.S. economy

By CHRISTOPHER RUGABER WASHINGTON — Delta Air Lines can’t get eight new aircraft in the air. Roughly a million government employees and contractors aren’t being paid. Some Americans who are trying to start small businesses face delays in obtaining the required tax identification number from the IRS. As the partial government shutdown moves through its fourth week with no end in sight, the economic blow is being felt not only by federal workers but also by business people, households and traveler...

Delta Air Lines has a monthly garage sale

Once a month, Delta Air Lines holds a "garage sale" at one of its facilities near their flight museum adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The New York Times' Jackie Snow visited this curious surplus sale. Turns out, many of the shoppers lining up to buy galley carts, oscilloscopes, earbuds, posters, branded silverware, and maybe even a scavenged coach class seat actually are Delta employees. From the NYT: Perry De Vlugt, a Delta flight attendant based in Salt Lake C...

The Mistake American Airlines Makes Focusing on Exact On-Time Departures

At an employee Crew News question and answer session earlier this month, American Airlines CEO Doug Parker was asked why the airline focuses on exact on time departures, rather than arrivals. How to travel with a severe allergy

It can be a pretty dim moment when you accept the fact that you suffer from a nut allergy. The careless days of ordering anything on the menu are far behind you after realizing that if you and a nut were in the ring, you’d lose. There is some solace in that you’re not alone, though — in the US, an estimated 15 million people have an allergy of some kind. Another bit of solace is that a nut or other food allergy doesn’t need to hinder your explorations. You don’t need to become Bubble Boy. I’v...
