Fair housing groups: Redfin ‘redlines’ minority communities

By Gene Johnson | The Associated Press Several fair housing organizations accused Redfin of systematic racial discrimination in a lawsuit Thursday, saying the online real estate broker offers fewer services to homebuyers and sellers in minority communities — a type of digital redlining that has depressed home values and exacerbated historic injustice in the housing market. In a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Seattle, the organizations said that during a two-year investigation they doc...

Chargers ask TE Donald Parham Jr. to do more than score touchdowns

COSTA MESA — Donald Parham Jr. is often asked to do tall-man tasks like grabbing items from the top shelf and being a red-zone target for the Chargers. The 6-foot-8 tight end is the first Charger to score touchdowns on each of his first two career receptions since John Jefferson did it in 1978. Justin Herbert threw both touchdown passes to Parham. The second came last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars when Herbert put the ball over a defender’s head for Parham to grab. “He reached up there a...

Rams watch Lakers and Dodgers win championships and think, ‘It’s our turn’

The Lakers got the NBA championship. The Dodgers got the World Series. And the Rams? They got the message. “I had a lot of friends text last night, joking around, saying, ‘It’s (time for) the Rams. You’ve got to hit the trifecta,’ ” Rams kicker Kai Forbath said Wednesday, the day after the Dodgers beat the Tampa Bay Rays to wrap up L.A.’s second sports title in 16 days. “A little added pressure,” Forbath said. “But that would be just amazing for the city.” Forbath, a Santa Monica native and West...

A Bit Of A Complicated Deal For Tyler Bertuzzi

from Max Bultman of The Athletic, His postseason pedigree in the OHL and AHL, including winning the AHL playoff MVP in 2017, speaks for itself. And a one-year deal certainly doesn’t do anything to change his upward trajectory. It’s also worth mentioning that Bertuzzi is the one who opted for arbitration this offseason, and certainly, the NHL’s financial strife right now doesn’t make negotiating long-term contracts easy. But in the big picture, this contract was always going to have ra...

Guest Post: Jeanne

Jeanne and her sister.       I grew up in the fabulous fifties era, the happy days' era, the sweet simple times when life seemed less complicated.  My Mother and Grandmother raised us with much love with the help of many relatives.  They both began their eternal lives and I miss them more than words can say.  They are both treasured and adored in Heaven as they were on Earth. My Sister and I are so close and reflect often on our beautiful childhood memories and treasure each ...

Rams’ Johnny Hekker has team excited about punts in win over Bears

INGLEWOOD — A big game for the punter is often a bad game for his team. Not for Johnny Hekker and the Rams on Monday night in their 24-10 victory against the Chicago Bears. “I’m usually not getting off the bench for a punt,” Rams quarterback Jared Goff joked, but there he’d been, joining in the sideline mob scene after one of Hekker’s long punts. All five times he was called on, the four-time All-Pro made the most of it. He put every kick inside the Bears’ 10-yard line, including a 57-yarder to ...

Penn State, Falcons learn: Scoring a touchdown can be a losing play

It's the most counterintuitive notion in football: Those rare instances where scoring a touchdown on offense is a bad idea that actually decreases the scoring team's chances of winning. But it played out twice in spectacular (depending on which side you were on) fashion this weekend, with the part-math, part-instinct problem rearing its head in a huge college football upset and an NFL game between two teams who both could have used a win. Here's a look at the situations at how both played out: *...

Junkyard Find: 2002 Toyota Corolla CE, Last of the 3-Speed Automatics

Not long ago, I became curious about the production longevity of the good old three-speed automatic transmission in North America. The first really successful true automatic had four forward speeds and the two-speed Powerglide delivered the slushbox to the masses, but the three-speed Detroit automatics of the 1960s truly converted the continent to the two-pedal […] The post Junkyard Find: 2002 Toyota Corolla CE, Last of the 3-Speed Automatics appeared first on The Truth About Cars.
