It’s Mock Draft Time

Corey Pronman of The Athletic (paid) with a mock draft today... 4. Detroit Red Wings: Cole Perfetti, C, Saginaw-OHL The draft starts to get interesting and more wide-open starting with Detroit’s pick. I’ve heard Lucas Raymond mentioned with the Red Wings, but a fair amount of sources seem to think the team likes Cole Perfetti a lot. His elite skill and hockey IQ with average feet and size has a lot of resemblance to Brayden Point, who Detroit GM Steve Yzerman picked during his tenure ...

Grading the Red Wings’ Moves in 2019-20

The 2019-20 season marked the first full year for the Detroit Red Wings with general manager Steve Yzerman at the helm. While it was unrealistic to expect Yzerman to turn the team into the Tampa Bay Lightning (his previous post) immediately, he did his best to improve his squad. Let’s look at some of Yzerman’s moves since July 1, 2019, and see which were good, bad, and ugly. We’ll start with the good moves and work our way down. “But it was still difficult to imagine things being this bad,” ...

Martin Kaymer checks his highlight film, makes another one at PGA Championship

You can call this a comeback. He hasn’t been here for years. Not even Martin Kaymer could easily recognize the fellow who was the No. 1 golfer in the world, who won the PGA Championship 10 years ago and ran away with the U.S. Open six years ago, who drilled the winning putt for Europe in the 2012 Ryder Cup and won the Players Championship in 2014. But he was quite familiar with his lookalike, the one who spent a forlorn week as an alternate to the Open Championship field at Royal Portrush and ne...

Joe Biden launches national ad aimed at Black Americans

By KAT STAFFORD | Associated Press DETROIT — Joe Biden’s Democratic presidential campaign has launched a new national ad focused on Black Americans, urging them to stand up to President Donald Trump the way their ancestors stood up to “violent racists of a generation ago.” The one-minute ad, which was shared exclusively with The Associated Press before its digital and television release on Thursday, is meant to drum up support among Black Americans, a key constituency for Biden, ahead of Novembe...

Watch the documentary trailer about rock mag Creem

Creem: America's Only Rock 'N' Roll Magazine looks at the freewheeling Detroit-based publication that was as gonzo as the artists they covered. As Craig S. Karpel observes, "There was no parallel for it in the rest of rock journalism. It was not a magazine that was about rock n' roll. Rock n' roll was taking place at the magazine." Developed under the working title Boy Howdy (their mascot's catchphrase), this fabulous doc is one of many that should be having a triumphant festival circuit, ...

DETROIT (AP) — About 1 million Fiat Chrysler vehicles with four-cylinder engines in the U.S. may spew too much pollution, and the company is working with government officials on a recall.
