A Disneyland Christmas – Tips and Lessons From My Holiday Experience

Planning a Christmastime trip to Disneyland can be a little daunting for anyone, especially for someone like me who is new to all things Disney. After an incredible, albeit brief, experience in the Happiest Place on Earth earlier in the year, I was excited to experience the park during the December holiday season. After a lot of research, I knew that Disneyland takes Christmas very seriously and in addition to all of the normal attractions, I couldn’t wait to enjoy the special events and foods ...

Stay in the Middle of the Magic at the Disneyland Hotel, Anaheim

My head hit the pillow and I snuggled down into a soft cloud. Oh My goodness this bed is comfortable. I felt the exhaustion drain out of my body and my last thoughts before slipping into dreams of magic carpet rides was, “Oh this is exactly what the body needs after a long day at Disneyland.” And then at 5:05 I woke up. No alarms needed. I felt refreshed, alert and in awe of how I had slept like a log (not a baby as they don’t sleep). The girls had succumbed to the comfort that evening as well....

Disneyland admission rises nearly sixfold since 1990: How’s that inflation rate?

Disneyland‘s magical pricing power has raised its basic ticket price nearly six-fold over three decades. The new $149-a-day price is up from $25.50 in 1990, equal to 6.5 percent annualized growth. Now the Anaheim theme park has done much work to earn that increase — tons of renovation and innovation, including adding the Disney California Adventure park next door in 2001 to the new Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland later this year. Argue, if you must, about whether the usually crowded parks’ p...

Disneyland at Christmas – Very Rough First Thoughts

I had intended to write a much longer post, and I will, but then I had to deal with flight delays and, well, that longer post isn’t going to happen today. However, I didn’t want the holiday to pass without at least sharing a little bit of what my very remarkable experience at Disneyland was like just a few days before Christmas, so here’s a small taste. It wasn’t my intention to be at Disneyland the weekend before Christmas, but I’m so glad it turned out that way. I was on a cruise that ended i...

A theme park fan’s wish list to Santa

Dear Santa Claus, Sorry about that little mishap with your sleigh at Disneyland last weekend. But it’s great to see that you’re back in action already, and I will be sure to put a little something extra out with the cocoa when you visit our home this Christmas Eve. I suspect that helping theme parks might not be high on your list after Disneyland left you hanging from your Christmas parade float Saturday afternoon, but we fans always have had your back. So as you are setting aside lumps of coal ...

Disneyland needs a new hotel, and quickly

Oh, by the way, Disneyland still has a hotel problem. Yes, Disneyland announced in October that it would not go ahead with its previously announced plans to build a fourth hotel at the resort. Disney blamed the City of Anaheim for canceling a promised tax subsidy, while the city said that since Disney moved the site of the project, the deal no longer applied. That political fight seems to be over, but the fact remains that Disney still needs more hotel rooms at its Anaheim resort, as Disneyland ...
