What you watch on Disney+ will shape your Disneyland experience — and vice versa

Disney has a simple three-pronged goal in the post-pandemic world of in-home and out-of-home entertainment: Turn Disney+ subscribers into theme park visitors, convert park fans into streaming bingers and increase the guest satisfaction for the overlap. How Disneyland’s most devoted fans have coped during the park’s nearly yearlong closure

The girl who did her homework there. The mom who came to the park after her kids went to school. The pet sitter who used it for exercise. The homeowner who actually liked living underneath the Disneyland fireworks displays. Life has changed for these Disneyland fans, and not in a good way. Nearly a year after the resort closed its gates because of the COVID-19 pandemic on a rainy March 14, 2020, people are coping and making do. Los Angeles County’s legal bills ticked upward last fiscal year, jumping from $148.5 million to $151.9 million, fueled by an increase in the amount paid out to settle lawsuits. All told, attorneys fees and costs totaled $64.3 million, while the county paid out $87.6 million in judgments and settlements, according to County Counsel Rodrigo A. Castrol-Silva’s repor...

Mayor’s ‘cheat sheet’: How LA County’s restrictions would change under state order

Los Angeles County residents can still go to the nail and hair salons, but likely not for long with the Southern California region expected to undergo the state’s even stricter stay-at-home rules. Most activity that isn’t considered essential have already been restricted under a county order — that was reaffirmed in a city order — so it may be difficult to discern what further restrictions the state rules would bring, if ICU capacity dips below a certain threshold. Probably sensing that many Ang...
