As Twitter continues to try to find the right balance between making its platform easier to use while also less prone to toxicity and abuse, the social media platform reported mixed earnings for Q4. Twitter posted $1.01 billion in revenue — notable because it is the first time its revenues have broken past the billion-dollar mark — due to a strong quarter in advertising sales. Twitter CEO reveals the guy who issues coveted blue checkmarks, and the guy is not happy about it

Some Twitter users -- especially trolls, racists, misogynists, and fascists -- covet the blue checkmark Twitter adds to "verified" accounts, in the mistaken belief that it gives them a seal of legitimacy. Recently, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey answered customer service questions in a Wired interview and one of the questions he got was about how to receive a blue checkmark. Dorsey said, “There’s a guy named Kayvon, and he handles all the verification, which is the blue checkmark. So if you either D...

The edit button, a feature just about every avid Twitter user has wanted at some point, will probably never become a reality. At least, that’s what Jack Dorsey says in a new Wired video. Jack Dorsey says Twitter will 'probably never' add an edit button (TWTR)

When asked about whether Twitter will ever roll out an edit button that would let people modify tweets, CEO Jack Dorsey said "we'll probably never do it." Dorsey made the revelation during a video Q&A with Wired, arguing that an edit button could be used to mislead people. Twitter has previously toyed with the idea of rolling out an edit button — product lead Kayvon Beykpour said last year that "it's a feature that I think we should build at some point." Dorsey also shined a light on how blue ...

Why Kevin Stefanski? Browns see him as first answer to fixing institutional dysfunction of the Jimmy Haslam era

Jackson felt that he and Dorsey were aligned when it came to how they wanted to build a team, what the structure should look like and, most important, who should be involved in showcasing that vision to Haslam. To Jackson, it was simple: With Sashi Brown out of the organization, he and Dorsey should cement their places in the structure and express to Haslam that DePodesta wasn't necessary in the process. The way Jackson figured it, he and Dorsey and the rest of the football side of the oper...

Into Africa: tech leaders weigh in on Jack Dorsey’s planned move to the continent

What’s next for the Browns?

The decision to “mutually part ways” (fire) G.M. John Dorsey happened because Dorsey wasn't willing to surrender some or all of his control over the football operations. So now ownership simply has to find a coach — an “exceptional leader” as Jimmy and Dee Haslam said in their statement making clear that they believe Freddie Kitchens isn't and never will be — who will first have to persuade the Haslams that he's the right guy. And who then will be able to do it.
