Comment on chocolate olive oil cake + more book tour! by Ellen

My first attempt at making this is in the oven right now. About 20 min into the baking, the batter overflowed and now it’s been in the oven for 50 min and shows no signs of firming up in the middle. I double-checked all the ingredient amounts, pan size, and oven temp and can’t figure out what went wrong. Anyone got any ideas?

Pete Buttigieg Fires Back at Rush Limbaugh’s Homophobic Attacks on ‘Ellen’

What better platform than The Ellen DeGeneres Show for Pete Buttigieg to share his unvarnished thoughts about Rush Limbaugh? During the 2020 hopeful’s swing through Los Angeles on Thursday, he made his second appearance on the daytime talk show, this time near the top of the Democratic field. With that increased confidence, Buttigieg was eager to fire back at Limbaugh, who recently made some seriously homophobic comments about the candidate and later revealed that President Trump himself told hi...

The sputtering California State Lottery

The California State Lottery was already the subject of an ongoing audit over questionable spending when someone had the bright idea to give away $212,500 in Scratchers tickets on the “Ellen” show. Comment on salted peanut butter cookies by Ellen

I had already purchased 100% natural, one ingredient peanut butter before reading all of the comments. I can’t have cane sugar, so I used 1 1/4 c. coconut sugar and 1/4c. maple sugar. Dough was quickly chilled in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. I didn’t want to waste all of these ingredients, so I only put 4 smaller size cookies on the first tray. Two were left mounded and two were flattened with a fork, in the traditional criss cross pattern. I moved my parchment from my insulated cookie sheet to...

Can a Retweet Constitute Copyright Infringement? Uh….–Bell v. Chicago Cubs

Bell authored a book called “Winning Isn’t Normal.” He got a copyright registration for the book and a separate registration for a 241 word passage from the book (I won’t include that passage here for reasons that soon will be obvious). Bell claims this passage is the heart of the book. In May 2016, Moawad Group posted the passage to its social media accounts. Bell sued Moawad Group for copyright infringement. In 2018, the Moawad case survived a motion to dismiss. Bell v. Moawad Grp., LLC, 326 F...

Kevin Hart finally seems to understand why LGBTQ people were mad at him, says “I did f*ck up”

“With the whole Oscars thing, there was a big gap between what I thought the problem was versus what the problem really was. I got ten years where I made sure not to joke or play in the way that I did back then because it was a problem. I don’t care if you’re gay or not gay. I’m a people person. I’m going to love you regardless. It wasn’t until close friends like Wanda Sykes, Lee Daniels and Ellen talked to me and explained what they didn’t hear me say that I understood. Sean Hayes plays a middle-aged, cisgender woman in his latest film

Not content to live on his considerable Will & Grace residuals, the trailer for actor Sean Hayes‘ directorial debut Lazy Susan has arrived. In Lazy Susan casts himself as a cisgender woman, a “woman on the edge with nowhere to go but over.” Hayes, who also co-wrote the film, plays Susan as a profoundly entitled, unmotivated, and self-absorbed woman struggling to survive in a society that expects her to have a function. Susan struggles with her own laziness, even after getting evicted from her a...

Super Bowl 2020 ad review

It’s not hard to sit through a Super Bowl’s worth of commercials and tease out some trends. As a whole, the creative was a notch above last year’s. The humorous moments felt genuinely funnier without a shred of meanness (though, not everyone hit their marks, of course). It was also a more inclusive batch of ads: We saw what were most likely the first drag queens in a Big Game ad. Ellen and Portia’s marriage was taken at face value. Jonathan Van Ness put the pop in Pop-Tarts. And Lil Nas X bested...
