Be The Queen (with Elsa Majimbo) – Episode 8 of Professional Troublemaker

This week on Professional Troublemaker, I’m talking to 15x chess champion, professional bragger, comedian, and social media sensation Elsa Majimbo. Pre-global pandemic, Elsa was a journalism student with just over seven thousand followers. Fast forward a few viral videos later, and Elsa is out here with a Fenty endorsement and other major corporate partnerships, taking meetings with actors and musicians she’s looked up to for years, releasing her own ASMR song about snacks on Apple Music an...

20 Years of Disney California Adventure: Exploring How Disney’s Theme Park Misfire Came Back from the Dead

20 years ago today, Disneyland Park got a sister. For over four decades, the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California had comprised the original theme park and its corresponding hotel. But on February 8, 2001, Disneyland Park was joined by Disney’s California Adventure, a theme park located in California that was also about California. (In an opening-day TV special, the park was advertised thusly: “Disney’s California Adventure…in California!”) Even with the park closed for nearly a ...

Best-selling author Kristin Hannah reveals the unusual journey of ‘The Four Winds’

Kristin Hannah had spent a year researching and writing an early draft of her new novel when she realized she’d gone astray. “The Four Winds” is set in the Texas panhandle as the Depression and the Dust Bowl environmental disaster. In the margins of Hannah’s story as she initially conceived it, there was the character Elsa, a young woman who’d grown up feeling unloved and unworthy, who found meaning as the mother of two young children. “I wrote it for at least a year, and Elsa was kind of a peri...

The cold doesn’t bother Poles anyway!

Just like in “Frozen” Elsa was not bothered by cold…well, almost like that! Morsowanie has taken off in Poland a while ago, but became especially popular this winter! “Mors arktyczny” stands for the Arctic walrus, and thats where the name of this curious sport came from. With the promise of an energy boost ( zastrzyk energii) , better circulation and immune system health (lepsze krążenie i zdrowie układu odpornościowego), as well as a general sense of strange achievement, more and more bathers a...

Comment on simple, essential bolognese by Elsa

Oh my gosh, this was so good. However, I would not recommend doubling it. I used a 7qt Dutch oven. While it easily fit the volume of sauce, there was not enough surface area for the vegetables and meat to brown, so between that and the amount of water/fat that the vegetables and meat released, they steamed. It was still amazing after 3+ hours of simmering, but it would have been even better with the browning. (Or maybe if you double, do the veggie and meat browning in two batches and then simmer...

When Albert Einstein & Charlie Chaplin Met and Became Fast Famous Friends (1930)

Photo via Wikimedia Commons “You do not really understand something unless you can explain it to your grandmother,” goes a well-known quote attributed variously to Albert Einstein, Richard Feynman, and Ernest Rutherford. No matter who said it, “the sentiment… rings true,” writes Michelle Lavery, “for researchers in all disciplines from particle physics to ecopsychology.” As Feynman discovered during his many years of teaching, it could be “the motto of all professional communicators,” The Guard...

Dear working moms: Relax, we've already made the 2020 holidays magical enough

Many working moms are faced with an even longer to-do than usual during the holidays. Richiesd/Getty Images Melissa Petro is a freelance writer based in New York where she lives with her husband and two small children.  On Christmas in 2017, Petro says she broke down and spent the day hiding in her bedroom after weeks of planning, buying, gift-wrapping, and decorating (all on top of her work and regular mom duties) drove her to exhaustion. The emotional labor of the holidays can be dangero...

Comment on jelly doughnuts by Elsa

These were incredible! My partner is Jewish but from Brazil and they use dulce de leche instead of jelly for their dougnuts at Hannukah, so we swapped taht in here and it was amazing. We made a full batch and fried half right away for dessert, and let the other half do their second rise so we could have them hot for breakfast in the morning. :)

Frozen 2 Sketchbook

I made this in mind of the theories of how Elsa and Anna might be the cousins of Rapunzel from tangled. I simply combined the idea of "Raps" diary/sketchbook with the spirits from Frozen 2. True I changed some colors and the water horse looks like a really buff fox but I'm very pleased with it in the end. I made this with the intention of selling it but it's gonna be really hard to part with [Author: Kinhime Dragon]

Josie and Elsa

Do you know who Elsa is? She is in the show "Frozen" and she likes ice and snow. Grumpy brought in a bowl of snow and she jumped in it! Then I did a science experiment. I put little glumps of snow in this bottle to see if it would melt. (It did!) I went and got more snow, just to make sure. My boots left a snow creature on the floor. Then I had to go back to The Room to see about my babies and fix them some oatmeal. Margot was absolutely sick and I fed he...
