Theresa May has failed to offer sound leadership in this toxic Brexit phase | Phillip Lee

The PM has brought us to this crisis with a series of calamitous decisionsHow has it come to this? Theresa May and her husband, Philip, have long been friends of mine and I have in the past admired her sense of duty and commitment to her party and her country. So it grieves me that her stubborn choices have left both in peril. At a time when our politics needs statesmanship, not brinkmanship, when our divided people need time to heal and come back together, and when our country needs honest leade...

Keep Farage out: Weber wants no EU vote in UK

Speaking to Reuters after EU leaders agreed with Prime Minister Theresa May that Britain would elect its own members to a new European Parliament if it has not left before the May 23-26 vote, Manfred Weber of the European People's Party (EPP) said the summit had provided needed clarity on Brexit. Leaders hardened their insistence that Britain should be out of the European Union before the election, so as to avoid casting doubt on the EU legislature's legitimacy. Weekly Roundup, Friday 22 March 2019

Bet you can’t name this distinctive capital city. See item, below. Good morning“I’m sorry, I’m having difficulty understanding that right now.  Please try again later.”That was the regular response, during the last nightmarish couple of weeks, to my regular morning request “Alexa, turn on David Bed Light”.  An intermittent problem with my new Netgear router often meant it had frozen overnight, so when it came time to turn on the light in the morning as part of a regular getting out of bed routin...

The changes to the bank's previous predictions came after the EU agreed to grant the UK a short reprieve, until April 12, before Britain could lurch out of the EU if May fails to persuade lawmakers to back her withdrawal treaty.
