Let’s Talk About Alexsandr Kallus, One of the Most Underrated ‘Star Wars’ Characters Ever

With all the acclaim given to Star Wars: The  Clone Wars in recent years, it can be easy to overlook Dave Filoni’s other great animated Star Wars show, Star Wars Rebels . That makes some sense. For one, Rebels lacks the immediate proximity to a Star Wars property enjoyed by Clone Wars . While some familiar faces do appear, the show’s central cast is mostly populated with new characters. Many of the Rebels characters who are familiar originated in the earlier show, impl...

‘The Mandalorian’ May Take Place Before the Final Scene of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ – Here’s What That Means

Last weekend’s episode of The Mandalorian saw the debut of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano in the live-action Star Wars universe after becoming a fan favorite character from The Clone Wars. Ahsoka also had a hand in the plot of Star Wars Rebels as a Rebel informant under the codename “Fulcrum,” which resulted in an eventual face-off with her old master: Darth Vader. ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ is a Love Letter to the Larger ‘Star Wars’ Universe

It has been three days since I have seen Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I’ve also struggled to put my thoughts down, as my colleagues’ critical consensus is as far from my own experience with Episode IX as diametrically possible. In short, I loved every weird, twisty, lore-heavy second of Lucasfilm’s final installment in the Skywalker Saga. It was everything I wanted, including a few things I hadn’t even dared to hope to see. So how did I en...

J.J. Abrams Teases a Fan Favorite Character Cameo in ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has the difficult task of not only wrapping up this new trilogy of Star Wars movies, but the entire Skywalker saga that began back in 1977. Because of that, the movie will be reaching into every facet of Star Wars for an epic finale that we’ve seen teased in the trailers and TV spots. We already know that a bunch of ships from the history of the saga will gather for what will undoubtedly be the biggest space battle of the entire franchise, but it sounds like we ...

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Cast and Crew Reflect on the Series Finale, the Epilogue, and Why a Certain Character Had to Die

Creator/executive producer Dave Filoni joined Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray, and Tiya Sircar to discuss Star Wars Rebels during Star Wars Celebration. Naturally, major spoilers were discussed. When Star Wars Rebels ended in March 2018, Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn vanished without a trace.  While fans have speculated as to what might have happened, Filoni was tight-lipped during Saturday afternoon’s panel.  While there was less dancing around other elements of the conclusion, what happ...

One Year Ago, the Final Season of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Grappled With How to Say Goodbye – And It Still Resonates

This article contains major spoilers for the final season of Star Wars Rebels . As the animated series Star Wars Rebels reached its finale, the death of Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus took its toll on me. With the paternal and youthful voice of Freddie Prinze Jr., Kanan was the anchor point to much of Rebels’ compelling dynamics, from his mentorship to young Ezra Bridger to his romance with the pilot Hera Syndulla. No wonder he was my favorite non-movie Jedi, and I knew him by an affectio...

Dave Filoni on the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Ending, Who Survives, and the Future of ‘Star Wars’ Stories

The Star Wars Rebels finale raises just as many questions as it answers. I very much enjoyed this final installment of the Disney XD series, but am surprised that the story seems far from concluded. The ending even appears to feature a cliffhanger that teases a new adventure which could be explored in another Star Wars animated series or feature film. But was that the intention?
