Bill Gates can buy any car he wants — but maybe Elon Musk should care it's a Porsche and not a Tesla (TSLA, MSFT)

Bill Gates recently said he'd bought an all-electric Porsche Taycan, prompting Tesla CEO Elon Musk to characterize his billionaire-on-billionaire interactions with the Microsoft co-founder as "underwhelming." Gates can buy any car he wants — and he has a track record for favoring Porsches. For now, Tesla is selling some high-performing versions of its vehicles, but it lacks a car that competes with Taycan on newness and sizzle. Interestingly, if Tesla continues to grow, the company might find ...

Violence In Syria Stokes Fears Of A Coming ‘Bloodbath.’ Will Trump Act?

Nearly a decade into a conflict defined by mass carnage and war crimes, Syria is suffering through what may be the worst humanitarian crisis in its blood-soaked civil war. For months, the Syrian military, backed by Russian air strikes, has been trying to wrest control of the northern territory of Idlib, the last province held by opposition forces. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the death of 1,964 civilians there over the last year, as daily bombing runs have blown ap...

‘The Call of the Wild’ Review: A Heartfelt Survival Story Buried in a Mush of Uncanny CGI

Most attempts to adapt the works of Jack London to the big screen have, more often than not, resulted in a neutered final product. Chris Sanders‘ live-action/computer-animated adaptation of The Call of the Wild falls firmly in this category. Gone is the savage romance of London’s short novel in all its untamed glory, instead, The Call of the Wild is a Disney-fied The Revenant — though it’s even less a survival film than it is a schmaltzy celebration of that bond between dog and human. At parts,...

I drove a $63,000, diesel-powered Chevy Silverado to find out if the engine made a great pickup even better — here's the verdict (GM)

I tested a $62,515 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that featured a 3.0-liter diesel engine. The Silverado ranks behind the Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150 in my full-size pickup list, but the diesel motor adds something special to this Chevy truck. Towing capacity is respectable, and fuel economy is appealing at nearly 30 mpg on the highway. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. Of the top three full-size pickups in the US market, the Chevrolet Silverado has long been last on ...

2021 Ford F-150 Looks to Avoid Enemies

Given that domestic full-size pickups generate more money for their respective builders than a war bonds drive, every redesign is fraught with danger. OEMs walk an especially fine line in this segment, fearful of making a vehicle too bland or too similar to the previous generation, but understandably nervous about breaking out of the box […] The post 2021 Ford F-150 Looks to Avoid Enemies appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

The debut of electric pickups signals a new EV era

Several companies rolled out electric pickups in 2019. Tesla’s Cybertruck got most of the attention, but don’t sleep on General Motors and Ford — bringing electric pickups to market is critical for the viability of electric vehicles. Automakers build vehicles around shared components. These platforms, the underpinnings of the vehicles, often live for 10 or more years, and are critical to each automaker’s economic stability. The exterior sheet metal might change, but dozens of models often sha...

Is Your Brand Earning Business Or Expecting It?

I read another LinkedIn post today from a prolific consultant where the first three words were “Companies need to…”.  At its core is a recycled idea (stop benchmarking your competitors) laced with some spirited, low grade outrage. Look, I get it. If you have a personal online brand to manage, you need to push provocative statements out there daily. It’s tough to feed that beast. But here’s my question: when was the last time any business of any consequence made any change of any consequence ...
