WH On Emergency Declaration: ‘Congress Is Still Unhappy For Some Reason’

White House spokesperson Hogan Gidley said Thursday that senators who vote to block President Donald Trump’s declaration of emergency on Thursday — as a majority of the body is expected to do — “stand in opposition to the American people.” In an interview on Fox News, Gidley asserted that, in declaring an emergency in order to obtain more funds than Congress had appropriated for a border wall, “ the President is literally using powers granted by Congress to enforce laws  passed by Congress.”...

WH: We Haven’t Seen Congressional Committee’s Compromise Funding Bill

White House spokesperson Hogan Gidley said Tuesday morning that the White House hadn’t yet seen a compromise deal to keep the government funded and avoid another shutdown over President Donald Trump’s border wall demands. “We’re not sure yet,” if Trump can sign the compromise funding bill, Gidley told Fox News Tuesday morning. He continued: “And I’m not really ready to focus on what could be in there. I would like to focus on what is actually in there, and we haven’t seen that yet.” Memb...

White House spokesperson Hogan Gidley said Tuesday that press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will deliver a press briefing … eventually. In an interview with Gidley, a White House deputy press secretary, Fox News’ Sandra Smith noted that there hadn’t been a press briefing delivered from the White House briefing room yet this year. “Is there any plans to start that back up again, or see Sarah Sanders back up at the podium?” Smith asked. “She’s going to come back when she finds a reason to do...

White House Trashes BuzzFeed And Cohen But Doesn’t Deny Report

White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley made his disdain for BuzzFeed and Michael Cohen clear on Friday, criticizing the news outlet’s bombshell report that President Trump directed Cohen to lie to Congress about the Trump Tower Moscow project. “This is absolutely ludicrous  that we are giving any type of  credence or credibility to a ‘ news outlet’ like BuzzFeed,” Gidley told Fox News. “ They are  responsible completely and totally  for the release of a discredited, proven fal...

Trump has no deadline for deciding on a replacement for John Kelly, whose departure as chief of staff was announced last week, and, as always, he could change his mind, the source said. White House Reacts To Cohen Interview: It’s ‘Laughable’

White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley was not impressed by Michael Cohen’s lengthy and, at times, emotional interview with “Good Morning America” Friday. “Look, quite frankly for the media to give credence to a convicted criminal who has lied on multiple occasions, and self-admitted doing just that, is laughable. The President has maintained and has said many times he has never instructed Michael Cohen to do anything illegal and we stand by that,” Gidley told Fox News. Watch: WH spox ...

As Shutdown Looms, Trump Meets With GOP Leaders Over Border Wall

WASHINGTON (AP) — With a partial government shutdown possible in just 10 days, President Donald Trump met with Republican leaders to hash out a spending plan that includes funding for Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico. Trump is seeking $5 billion for the wall, a centerpiece of his 2016 campaign, and is ratcheting up pressure on Congress to provide it. Trump said this month that it could be a “good time” for a shutdown if he doesn’t receive the wall funding he wants. House Republicans a...

WH Defends Barring CNN Reporter: She Refused To Leave Oval Office

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House on Thursday defended its decision to bar a CNN correspondent from attending an open press event but contended it had nothing to do with the questions she asked. WH Spox Denies Having Family Separation Policy, Then Admits To It

Deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley on Monday asserted it was “false” that the Trump administration had instituted a policy of separating families at the border immediately before contradicting himself, admitting to and justifying that exact policy. In an interview with Gidley, “Fox and Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade asked: “Do you think that the message from the media is correct that your administration is separating parents, moms and kids?” “It is completely false,” Gidley said. “...

After President Trump’s new lawyer dropped a bombshell on Fox News on Wednesday evening — that Trump paid his attorney Michael Cohen $130,000, the amount Cohen paid in hush money to a porn star — the White House was tight-lipped about the new admission. “We’ve addressed this many times,” White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley told Fox News later on Wednesday evening. “What I can tell you in this instance is, it is ongoing (litigation), we have nothing to say about it. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is nominating white men to America’s federal courts at a rate not seen in nearly 30 years, threatening to reverse a slow transformation toward a judiciary that reflects the nation’s diversity.
