How To Find The Best Kid’s Glasses & Frames for Your Child

When choosing eyeglasses for your child, you have to consider several aspects, such as durability, shape, material, color, and price. With such a wide variety of frames to choose from, you want to make sure that your money will be well-spent and that your child will be satisfied with the choice. Depending on your child’s age, you may have to prioritize one aspect over the other. If your child plays sports, for example, durability is much more important than style. But children who are ente...

We're Not Ready for Smart Glasses Yet

There’s no shortage of reasons why, which makes it a little baffling that in 2021, high-tech glasses have made a mini-comeback. Facebook, , and even Samsung are all rumored to be working on a pair…Read more...

What Happens to Your Eyes When You Stare at Screens All Day

We spend a lot of time staring at screens. There’s the small screen in our pocket, the big screen we watch our shows on, and the medium screen that many of us stare into for eight hours a day to help pay for those other screens. Are all of these screens ruining our eyes? Read more...

Pair Eyewear raises $12M to bring more personality to your glasses

Pair Eyewear has raised a $12 million Series A to help glasses-wearing kids and adults turn those glasses into what co-CEO Sophia Edelstein called “a form of self-expression.” After all, Edelstein (who founded the company with her co-CEO Nathan Kondamuri) noted that “you’re spending a lot of money on [glasses], and then you’re stuck with that choice, unlike everything else you wear.” Pair Eyewear provides more flexibility by turning a pair of glasses into a two-piece ensemble. There’s the underl...

Use a Pair of Cheap Safety Goggles Instead of 'Onion Goggles'

Onions are used in nearly every type of cuisine, which makes them pretty much impossible to avoid in the kitchen. I’d never want to avoid eating an onion but, as we all know, chopping them at once can lead to stinging, weeping eyes and—if you happened to put on mascara “just to feel pretty”—dark streaks and smudges…Read more...

Be Ready for When You Inevitably Break Your Glasses

You step on your glasses in the middle of the night. Or a house fire melts your eyeglass frames. A tornado rips your glasses right off your face. Or a pandemic worsens, your glasses break, everything shuts down, there’s no way to get a replacement. As a glasses wearer I’ve thought about all these possibilities and…Read more...

I Love The New Bose Frames Even If I Look Like an Absolute Jabroni

I liked the original Bose Frames. They were stylish sunglasses that featured audio-based augmented reality, which actually seemed like a clever workaround for the technological challenges of smart glasses. But alas, Bose AR wasn’t meant to be. Last summer, the company shuttered that division and as a result, Bose…Read more...

Stop Glasses From Fogging Up With a Band-Aid on Your Mask

Wearing glasses may help protect you from the coronavirus, but it's not worth getting them if you don't need them for vision

Crystal Cox/Insider A small study out of China found people who wear glasses regularly were less likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19.  Though not as protective as goggles and face shields, glasses may provide a barrier against the virus or prevent people from touching their faces.  Other factors could be at play that explain the link, though, and experts still don't recommend getting glasses if you don't otherwise need them.  Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. Adhesive nose bridge strips for DIY face masks help keep my glasses clear

These adhesive nose bridge strips help keep my glasses from fogging up. I have two masks that came with nose bridge strips sewn in. Those two are the only masks I was able to use when shopping or anywhere my sight was actually important, as the loose nose bridge area on my other hand-made masks encouraged my glasses to fog up. Feeling like my vision is closing in as I breathe-in increasingly warmer and damper air evokes memories of nitrogen narcosis while scuba diving. Never the smartest fr...

Original nerd glasses from 1756 saved from trash, auctioned for $5k

This original, 300-year-old pair of nerd eyeglasses were destined for a Wellington, New Zealand landfill. Fortunately, the operators of a Wellington City Council thrift shop pulled the frames, an ancestor of Le corbusier's classic specs, from the trash and listed them for auction. The frames, a style called Martin's Margins designed in 1756 by Benjamin Martin, sold for more than $5,282. I eagerly await an Oliver Peoples knock-off. From UPI: The winning bidder, Aaron Smylie, said he boug...
