Gorilla moms carry their dead babies around with them, which could be proof that they grieve, scientists say

Ben Birchall/PA Images/Getty Images Primates seen carrying babies after their death could be experiencing forms of grief, new research found. The evidence suggests that the mothers could learn what death is over time. The findings provide clues into the evolution of emotions. See more stories on Insider's business page. Gorillas at the San Diego Zoo are the first non-humans to be vaccinated against COVID-19

With fewer than 5,000 gorillas left in the wild, researchers have expressed concern that, because apes live in close family groups, a coronavirus infection could spread quickly if just one ape caught the virus. San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance Great apes at the San Diego Zoo are the first non-humans to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The news comes after a gorilla troop at the zoo tested positive for COVID-19 in January. Researchers are hoping to better understand the coronavirus and its effect...

The critically endangered western lowland gorilla was born Friday to 13-year-old Tumani and father Okpara, and the sex of the baby isn't yet known. "Tumani is demonstrating excellent mothering behaviors and the entire troop is doing exceptionally well," said an Audubon Zoo spokesperson, who added that zookeepers first saw the baby during their morning check Friday. Michael Bublé performed a private concert of Christmas songs for a trio of gorillas

The lucky apes — Ganyeka, Yakini and Motaba — currently live at the Werribee Open Range Zoo in Melbourne, Australia. According to PRI, one of the zookeepers discovered that the silverback gorillas responded quite positively to Bublé's dulcet tones: When we play Michael Bublé's CDs, the boys will instantly start pleasure grumbling and sit nice and calm and relaxed. Our theory is it’s the beautiful low tones that he sings with kind of mimics their pleasure grumble. And they’ve even been shown t...

Gorilla Racer: A Honda Monkey 125 with attitude

K-Speed is one of the busiest shops in the business, turning out customs at a head-spinning rate. That’s because they’re also one of Thailand’s largest aftermarket parts suppliers, so they know a thing or two about production. That being said, we’ve never seen K-Speed build the same type of bike twice. Until now, that is. This Honda Monkey-based mini-cafe racer is a twist on a minimoto we’ve featured previously…but with a few tasty enhancements. K-Speed boss Eak has a soft spot for the Mon...

Racial References in Hit Movie ‘Sing’

The criminal connection of the aspiring gorilla rapper in 'Sing' is viewed by some a typical representation of an African American artist trying to make it big but caught up in a web of dirty deeds, and the movie has been ripped apart on social media. I made two important changes in my most recent move — and it made the process so much easier

Moving is the worst. We're all on the same page here, right? Lifting heavy objects is awful, as is moving said objects, as is carefully placing them down once more.  The process is tiring and stressful and expensive. Having lived in cities since starting college in 2006, I've moved... too many times in the past 10 years. I moved to Philadelphia, around Philadelphia, to Barcelona, back to Philadelphia, to New York City, and twice during my time here. A lot of moves. And earlier this year, I did ...

Forget Trump… Selena Gomez, Harry Styles, & Harambe The Gorilla Scored A LOT Of Votes In The Presidential Election!

It hasn't even been a day since Donald Trump was declared the next President, and America is starting to feel voter's remorse. Hillary Clinton supporters are already fearful for what will come out of a dangerous, unpredictable Trump White House -- but the business mogul's backers were just as scared about the Democratic nominee's potential victory. Since this historic election forced voters to choose between the two least popular candidates in history, many people didn't give a sh*t who ended up...

It's Time We Kill Harambe All Over Again

Since he was tragically killed in May, Harambe has transcended his role as the random zoo gorilla who inadvertently became a babysitter. In his afterlife, he has become the king of the internet jungle but it might be time to kill the majestic beast once again. Harambe is the meme of summer 2016 but the gorilla's death was ridiculously more complicated under the surface. The death and subsequent digital rebirth of the gorilla shows the power of the internet, and the idea that a meme can truly emp...

A Day Of Magic At The Bronx Zoo

When people come to NYC, one borough I feel that is typically overlooked is the Bronx. Known for Fordham University, Botanical Gardens, Yankee Stadium, etc, the Bronx should definitely be more than just "the scary" place you hear about in movies and TV. It's a borough full of culture, discounts and unique experiences. One experience I recommend you must do, is spend a day at the Bronx Zoo. I recently went back to the Bronx Zoo after staying away for years. I mean my staying away was more a produ...
