Fallen tree blocks Foothill Expressway

-- Crews are working to remove a fallen tree that fell across the eastbound lanes on Foothill Expressway at Grant Road in Los Altos this morning, police said. Crews have been on the scene since 9:13 a.m., according to police. The public is advised to avoid the area and there is no estimated time for when the roadway will be cleared, police said. No further details were immediately available.

A suspected car burglar allegedly struck an occupied Palo Alto police car and led police on a chase along U.S. Highway 101 that ended with his arrest in Los Altos on Monday, Palo Alto police said. The police vehicle sustained moderate damage but two detectives inside were not injured, police said.
