Han Solo movie - Spoilers

Spoilers Finally saw it last night, as it's free on Netflix. I'd grade it as an above average movie, but a fail for the Star Wars universe and Han Solo. I grew up on Star Wars, and find Episode IV and V some of the best films ever made and among the very best back-to-back sequels ever made of any movie genre. It offers deep and interest themes, very ambitious creativity, and bold characters. Harrison Ford played 3 of my favorite all time characters (Solo, Rick Deckard, and Indiana Jones). ...

An Eye-Scanning Lie Detector Is Forging a Dystopian Future

An anonymous reader shares a report: Sitting in front of a Converus EyeDetect station, it's impossible not to think of Blade Runner. In the 1982 sci-fi classic, Harrison Ford's rumpled detective identifies artificial humans using a steam-punk Voight-Kampff device that watches their eyes while they answer surreal questions. EyeDetect's questions are less philosophical, and the penalty for failure is less fatal (Ford's character would whip out a gun and shoot). But the basic idea is the same: By c...

The infamous ‘Star Wars Holiday Special’ is being turned into a behind-the-scenes LA stage show

In 1978, CBS broadcast “The Star Wars Holiday Special.” Unlike most things associated with the franchise, this made-for-TV movie was a flop, and it never aired again on TV. Forty years on, a hilarious and loving salute by Boston-based playwright Andrew Osborne dubbed “Special” – a two-act comedy play on stage at Theatre of NOTE from Dec. 13 through Jan. 13 – attempts to make sense of “how it came together with all these talented people trying really hard to make something good and failing so spe...

I tend to have a very bad memory when it comes to the plots of old movies, which means that I can go in and revisit these movies and still discover the story again, and enjoy the suspense. Such is the case for this — I remembered liking it, but couldn’t really remember much outside of the basic “this is Harrison Ford in trouble in Paris.” It’s still an enjoyable thriller with a Hitchcock feel, with good performances all around. Well worth a revisit.

Harrison Ford Doesn’t Want Chris Pratt to Replace Him as Indiana Jones

A rumor about Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt taking over the mantle of Indiana Jones from star Harrison Ford first popped up in 2015. Since then, Pratt has both denied the rumor and later acknowledged it, basically leaving the door open to the possibility should anyone at Disney or Lucasfilm come calling with an actual offer for him to play the whip-cracking archeologist. But there’s one person who seemingly doesn’t want Pratt involved: current Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford. Below...

10 Best Ridley Scott Movies

10 Best Ridley Scott Movies Considered one of the most prominent voices in science fiction filmmaking today, Ridley Scott is responsible for some of the biggest hits the genre has to offer. That’s not to say that Scott can’t do drama or action or comedy, though. If anything, some of these genres bring out aspects of Scott that transcend his eye for science fiction. His style is very atmospheric, which might be what sets him apart from other science fiction directors of our time — he has an u...

Someone Used a Deep Learning AI To Perfectly Insert Harrison Ford Into "Solo: A Star Wars Story"

Andrew Liszewski, writing for io9: Casting anyone other than Harrison Ford in the role of Han Solo just feels like sacrilege, but since Ford is now 76 years old, playing a younger version of himself would be all but impossible. Or at least impossible if you rely on the standard Hollywood de-aging tricks like makeup and CG. Artificial intelligence, it turns out, does a pretty amazing job at putting Ford back into the role of Solo. The YouTube channel "derpfakes" has been posting videos that demon...
