Chip Shots from the Couch

We’ve been doubly lucky by having back to back weeks of golf viewing from the House That Jack Built, the testing course at Muirfield Village. The course played short and soft last week as it gracefully stood in for the scheduled John Deere Classic that fell away due the the pandemic. This week has the course in typical Memorial shape, fast and firm and getting more so, with a bit of howling wind as well. But not a drop of… Continue Reading →

PGA Tour's coronavirus worries escalate as two more players withdraw from Rocket Mortgage Classic

Both America’s Harris English and South African Dylan Frittelli have withdrawn from the £6 million event as the Covid-19 issue looms ever more ominous for the circuit that resumed three weeks ago. That makes it 10 players who have been obliged to scratch the last two events - and that was before the on-site testing began for this week’s event. Jay Monahan,...

Why Saudi Arabia?

It was a damn good sports weekend if you ask me. Of course it was dominated by the Super Bowl as it always is and the game didn’t disappoint. The NFL rules all on their showcase weekend. But I spent a good part of the week watching the Australian Open into the wee hours of the morning and there was plenty of golf broadcast all weekend too. The Waste Management Open finished with Webb Simpson out putting Tony Finau’s balky… Continue Reading →

The Brand You Don’t Know You Know: The PRG Story

There are brands that you know and love and always seem to find their way into your bag. Then there are brands you know and don’t love. Those, well, don’t. So riddle me this, Batman: how can a brand you never knew existed – and you didn’t knowingly buy – be in your bag because you love it? The answer is fo...
