See what fans are saying with waveform comments on SoundCloud Mobile

Let people know what you think of music and see what other’s are saying in real-time as waveform comments come to SoundCloud mobile. SoundCloud is unique in a world of music streaming services for it’s emphasis on community. Commenting, sharing, and most importantly uploading music by yourself creates a communal vibe that service like Spotify and Apple Music just don’t have. Real-time comments are a massive part of that. Anyone who has used SoundCloud on the web will be familiar with wa...

Making a music video on a budget

Since MTV broke in the 80’s music videos have become a massive part of artist’s careers. Being on a budget shouldn’t stop you making a great video. First off you want to think about the kind of video you want to make. If you have ideas about what you want for your video then you can look at how to approach that. RouteNote Troubleshooters: I want to change the audio on my release

My release has been approved and sent to stores and services but I want to change, add, or remove audio from it. Once your release is love on your chosen music stores and streaming services you can edit the metadata, like track titles, artist name, artwork, etc.  However, you cannot edit the audio on a release in any way as stores do not accept audio updates. To change the audio in your release you would need to re-create the release with the audio you wish to be on it.  If you’d lik...

DIY Spotlight I: Jeremiah Matthews of The Ellie Badge

For a major metro area, Memphis has a strangely small-town feel.  It’s not uncommon to run into the same folks in passing, especially at shows, coffee shops, or your favorite Kroger (it’s a thing, trust me).  Luckily I’ve had the fortune of ending up in Memphis, surrounded by a handful of people who not only feel familiar, but are actually from my own hometown in Mississippi.  Chief among them and leaseholder of the two-bedroom house that has held countless wayward Clevelanders as we clumsily...

Selocial Allows Fans and Bands to Discover, Publicize Indie Music

David “Stock” Baird is a songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur who spends a lot of time thinking of new and better ways for independent musicians to get paid for their work. He found a way to connect his passions by creating Selocial, a social network and music discovery tool that went live earlier this month. It allows users to share pictures and videos a la Instagram, but with a backing track or playlist. Baird, a Michigan native who often hangs out in London, has worked in the music i...
