Cut to Fit: RSD build a Honda Monkey for Wee Man

Customization can be about aesthetics and performance, but it can also be about making a motorcycle fit its rider better. This wild Honda Monkey from Roland Sands Design rolls all three approaches into one, with a build list to rival bikes twice its size. The Californian workshop built the Monkey for skateboarder, stunt performer and Jackass star Jason ‘Wee Man’ Acuña. ‘Orphan X’ novelist Gregg Hurwitz talks ‘Prodigal Son,’ Shakespeare and the home life of assassins

Gregg Hurwitz was already a successful author of standalone thrillers and mysteries when he started to think about writing the kind of big, action-packed series he’d long loved as a reader. “There’s so many characters I grew up with, and just love,” he says. “Whether it’s Jack Reacher, James Bond, Jason Bourne.” But he couldn’t quite get his head around what would make his hero — a character he thought of as Orphan X, a boy raised to be a secret government assassin — different from such legends ...

What Search Relevance Really Means in SEO

Search relevance in search engine optimization (SEO) is a concept that most digital marketers understand, but few know it at a deep level. The concept seems easy to grasp on its surface: Google results have to relate to the business. A local, family-owned pizza parlor won’t capture SEO for the term “bowling balls,” but the name “restaurants near me” might work great. But what happens if the same pizza parlor’s name is Bowling Balls’ Pizzeria? How does that affect search relevance and SEO ...

Chuting Gallery Survivors

Although it was never intended to be skied in its entirety, the 90+ lines and accompanying check boxes make The Chuting Gallery a logical steep skiing ticklist for the Wasatch. It took about five years of collecting lines to write the book and since then about ten people have collected the entire set. Skiing/riding them all in one year has still yet to be done, but I wouldn’t doubt that it is possible with the right year, right person and right strategy. Hint: don’t save the hardest for last....

Weekend reading: Opinions, like markets, will fluctuate

What caught my eye this week. B ack in March 2020, I got more than a dozen texts and emails from family and friends worried they were going to lose a lot of money from their investments. As it happened, their portfolios quickly bounced back. Many markets are now at all-time highs, and certain individual stocks – not to mention Bitcoin – are flying into the stratosphere… …and I’m again getting text messages and emails from friends worried they are going to lose a lot of money from their investm...

How Did ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm’ Find the Amazing Maria Bakalova to Play Borat’s Daughter?

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm is a comedic triumph that builds upon the insanity of the first mockumentary, but takes it to a new level thanks to the heightened ridiculousness of our current political and social climate. A big part of that success comes from the surprisingly touching story that develops between Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen) and his teenage daughter, played phenomenally by Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova. But how did director Jason Woliner find such a finely tuned comedic talent who c...
