Custom Bikes Of The Week: 22 March, 2020

A show stopping Yamaha GTS 1000 from Italy, a neo-retro Yamaha XT250 from Australia, and a very slick body kit for the BMW R nineT from France. Yamaha XT250 by Deus ex Machina The Deus Swank rally is a light-hearted off-road event that combines “vintage motorcycles, fancy dress and a can-do attitude.” So when Yamaha asked Deus Australia to build a bike that would embody the Swank spirit, head wrench Jeremy Tagand picked the XT250. After all, it might only be a small, air-cooled single—but ...

What Happens If the US Does Absolutely Nothing To Combat COVID-19?

On Monday, the Imperial College report on COVID-19 was released and the results are terrifying. For those who may not know, the Imperial College in London "has advised the government on its response to previous epidemics, including SARS, avian flu and swine flu," reports The New York Times. How Do You Know If Your Family Is Complete?

Ever since last summer when we adopted Marigold we’ve been asked (pretty close to DAILY) if our family is complete, or if we plan to adopt more children. In the months since then, I’ve give all three answers depending on my frame of mind that day— we’re definitely done, we may adopt more in the future, and we have no idea. All of those answers feel true to me in different moments, with the most consistent one being “we have no idea.” I have to admit, I am surprised how unsure I feel! I’m a plann...

Westlake Tagand Special: A Guzzi 850 T3 from Deus

You’ve probably heard the word ‘bitsa’ thrown around these parts if you’re a regular here. For the uninitiated, it’s a motorcycle that has ‘bits of everything.’ Bitsas are the mongrel dogs of the custom motorcycle world… and just like mongrels, some of them are hard to look at. But others are cross-bred in just the right way. This Moto Guzzi 850 T3 has Triumph, Norton, BSA and Dresda Triton bits on it, and it’s a total knockout—thanks to French builder Jeremy Tagand, who spins spanners at Deu...

‘Valentine’ is a Fascinating Artifact From the Post-‘Scream’ Horror Landscape

Back when Scream was released in 1996, it revitalized the slasher genre formula with its blend of self-referential humor and genuine scares. Once it became a cultural and box office phenomenon, it ushered in a new era of horror films in a similar vein such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Faculty . But then came a slasher pic that was inventive while showcasing the traditional slasher formula. Yet, because it still stuck to tradition and wasn’t entirely in the same vein as...

Warriors have list of players they want to sign to contracts this season

On Feb. 8, the Warriors signed Jeremy Pargo and Zach Norvell Jr. to 10-day contracts. Golden State is not giving either player a second 10-day deal, which means the team has a couple of roster spots to fill. "As it relates to Jeremy and Zach, I'm not exactly sure -- just without having spoken to Bob (Myers) and Mike (Dunleavy) and Kirk (Lacob) yet -- I can't give you an exact thought on how that played out," coach Steve Kerr told reporters Tuesday night.
