Another Politician Probably Violated the First Amendment By Blocking a Constituent on Twitter–Campbell v. Reisch

I’m shaking my head at how many politicians block their constituents on social media. What a terrible practice. Today’s case is particularly mind-blowing. Rep. Reisch is a representative in the Missouri House of Representatives tweeting @CheriMO44. The court describes the allegations: On June 22, 2018, Reisch tweeted about her appearance at a public event, at which her political opponent in the November 6, 2018 general election, Maren Jones, also appeared. Resich tweeted “Sad my opponent put he...

Alicia Keys Wore A $15 Drugstore Foundation To The Grammys

More often than not, no-makeup makeup is a misnomer. We've learned it actually takes an enormous amount of prep to give skin a glow that looks natural — like the way Alicia Keys' dewy cheekbones seemed to pulsate light from the Grammys stage last night. We felt vindicated by the realization that the famously "anti-makeup" star was, in fact, wearing makeup, but the real shocker wasn't that she was wearing foundation: It was that the full-coverage formula she chose is not rich-person fancy (like ...

Maggie Rogers Wants To Be Your Valentine & She Brought Music

Maggie Rogers is a lot of things: she's a witch feminist rockstar, a modern hippie pop star, and everyone's current musical crush. (Look for her at next year's Grammys — she'll sweep.)But while we were all playing I Heard It In A Past Life on repeat, Rogers was busy working on another piece of musical artistry — a playlist about crushes. After Rogers' visit to Refinery29, where she mused about the evolution of her career and performances, we asked her (nicely!) to craft a Valentine's Day playli...

Can the Grammys Please Anyone?

The awards show made a series of changes in the past year to address its lack of diversity. But whether new nominees will win — or big names will show up — isn’t guaranteed.

Frank Ocean Hints at Collaboration with SZA, Kendrick Lamar & André 3000

OMFG. Despite failing to keep his promise that 2018 will be better than 2017, it looks like our insatiable Frank Ocean thirst will be quenched big style in 2019. This morning, Frank posted two typically cryptic messages on his Tumblr, one hinting at three mysterious releases between now and next year. And the other teasing a collaboration with SZA, Kendrick Lamar and André 3000 dropping on March 1. Frank has worked with 3 Stacks twice before, of course, on Channel Orange‘s “Pink Matter” and ...

Board Question #91836: So I noticed that a certain speaker in General Conference ...

Q: Dear 100 Hour Board,So I noticed that a certain speaker in General Conference May have had a Botox injection. What are your guys’ thoughts on cosmetic surgery. Why is it so darn high here in Utah. I know plenty of members outside of Utah who look down on the saints here thinking they’re obviously more worldly due to all sisters with Tummy tucks, Boob Jobs, and now even worse stuff under the belt I don’t want to explicitly bring up here. Just why? Don’t we believe that our bodies are temples. ...

New Music: James Blake Feat. Travis Scott & Metro Boomin “Mile High”

James Blake is one of hip-hop’s go-to collaborators. From Kanye and Hov to Kendrick and Chance, the British singer/producer seems to only work with the best and biggest names in rap. The guest list for his upcoming album, Assume Form, is a testament to that as it features appearances from Travis Scott, Metro Boomin and the elusive André 3000, whose guest verse may be the one we heard earlier this month. With his new album hitting stores and streaming services at midnight tonight, James Blak...

The 50 Greatest Movie Moments of 2018

In the cold doldrums of January, with the multiplexes still mostly dormant, there’s only one thing for movie fans to do: look back at the previous year. And that’s what the /Film staff spent much of the past week doing as we assembled to create a list of the 50 greatest movie moments of 2018. First, we debated and argued and fought for which movie moments belonged on the list (all recorded in podcast form for your listening pleasure) and then we voted on the order. The result? A list of 50 scen...

The 10 Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2018

10. Migos – Culture II (Capitol/Motown/Quality Control) In 2018, Migos didn't risk overexposure, they indulged in it. They were everywhere, as a group and solo acts. Their double-disc, ridiculously long Culture II may have been treated like chart-bait for our streaming era. But in reality, it felt more like a self-contained universe, with a degree of infinity to it, created by a group dead-set on world domination. Their strengths – swagger, interplay, humor – were all on display. And the length...

Q&A With Rising Hip Hop Artist Cross King

Please tell us how many years have you been making music? Also, how did you come up with your artist name? I’ve been making music for the last seven years. My name is derived from my religious roots. “Cross King” stands for two in one where God is “Cross” and I am “King”, so my name resembles God and I working together to accomplish the things I feel called to do. Although I don’t make gospel music God plays a huge role in my song writing and production. A lot of Hip Hop greats are from Hous...
