Chinese national arrested, suspected of selling $24 million in fake Apple, Dell batteries from Southern California warehouses

LOS ANGELES — A Southern California man was arrested Thursday in an alleged $24 million scheme to sell counterfeit laptop batteries from China in the United States, federal prosecutors said. Zoulin Cai, a Chinese national who moved to the Los Angeles area in 2012, faces multiple charges including conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a release. A woman was found shot to death in Valinda on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 12, authorities said. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives went to the 1300 block of Glenshaw Drive just before 1 p.m. to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman, Deputy Armando Viera Jr. said.
