Custom Bikes Of The Week: 22 December, 2019

A jewel-like Hartford from Cowboy’s Chopper, a body kit for Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 owners, a killer vintage drag bike and a Ducati Paul Smart still in its crate. Now that would make a nice Christmas present, wouldn’t it? Hartford HD200 by Cowboy’s Chopper Taiwan has become a hot spot of custom motorcycle activity in the East, with shops like Rough Crafts and 2LOUD leading the charge. Now Alex Gao of Cowboy’s Chopper is becoming one to watch; this HD200 is top notch. Made by the T...

Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia Episode 8 Impression

On this episode, Ushiwakamaru and Leonidas fights against Avenger. Later, Benkei flees for being a coward. Wow, the action is very cool. It was nice to see Leonidas and Ushiwakamaru use their noble phantasms against Avenger. But, just like in the Fate/Grand Order game, Avenger is too strong and the battle became really dark. Also, I find it somewhat lame to see Benkei get barely any action. Other than that, I hope our male lead can do something for the next battle. Now what's going to happen nex...

Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia Episode 7 Impression

On this episode, Ritsuka and Mash gets assigned by Leonidas to do some wall work. Later, they go on a rescue assault to evacuate civilians from a city. So I guess it's decent to see some wall work scenes for our male lead and his servant. But, it did get way better in the later half anyway because of the rescue action mission. Also, it was nice to see some more character development being revealed for Ana and Merlin. Other than that, I hope Ritsuka and Mash can beat the upcoming strong servant...

Swiss versus Belgian chocolate

When it comes to chocolate, few countries are as well known as Switzerland and Belgium. Chocolates with the countries’ names attached are generally associated with quality, despite the obvious fact that neither country grows its own cocoa. The reason why all comes down to manufacturing history (and the marketing budgets of powerful companies). The Swiss chocolate and Belgian chocolate names aren’t as protected in international markets as other famous European foods. You can’t call a sparklin...

Will The Hundred be even a third as ludicrous as the film 300?

A lot of people think that The Hundred is ludicrous. To these people, we ask: “Have you not seen 300? That’s truly ludicrous.” The film 300 (which we’ve just this minute found out isn’t actually called “The 300”) is about 300 Spartans attempting to fend off over 300,000 Persians. Not great odds of success, you’d have to say. 300 people against 300,000 also feels like like the situation the ECB’s marketing department is currently facing. (Probably quite a lot worse actually.) ...

The Developer Obsession With Code Names, 186 Interesting Examples

Code names can be about secrecy, but when it comes to software development, it’s usually not so much about secrecy as it is about the convenience of having a name for a specific version of the software. It can be very practical to have a unique identifier for a project to get everyone on the same page and avoid confusion. And we want to name our darlings, don’t we? So what kind of code names are developers out there coming up with? Here is a collection of code names for software products from co...

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey falls far short of its own wondrous sandbox

It’s hard to imagine a better demonstration of the state of AAA gaming today than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a game where the whole of the wine-dark Classical Aegean is available for you to ply with your oars — but which operates according to a risible, cartoonish video game logic that seems, if possible even more anachronistic. Should you play it? Absolutely. (Very minor spoilers ahead.) In case you haven’t been following the Assassin’s Creed… well, odyssey, the last few years, the game took som...

‘Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s’ Elias Toufexis on Playing the Legendary King Leonidas

When Elias Toufexis (“The Expanse,” “Supernatural”) got called in to audition for Ubisoft’s next big game, his agent knew nothing about the role or even what the project might be. Video games are a clandestine business. “My sides — the lines they gave me for the audition — were from ‘The Godfather,’” Toufexis recalls. “It […]

The Spartan Way: The Mindset and Tactics of a Battle-Ready Warrior

Welcome back to our series on The Spartan Way, which seeks to illuminate the lessons the ancient Spartans can teach modern men – not in their  details , but in the  general principles  that lie beneath, and can still be extracted and applied today. At its peak, the Spartan army was the most dominant, and feared, military force in ancient Greece, and its prowess was built on the singular mentality and strategy it brought to the art of war. In this final installment of the Spartan Way series, we’...

Team Skirt or Team Pants

You’re on Team Skirt if you prefer to wear skirts over pants. You’re on Team Pants if you prefer to wear pants over skirts. IMPORTANT: For the purpose of this poll, pants do NOT include jeans, but they do include casual pants like joggers, chinos, jeggings, utility pants and any style of dressier pant. All seasons and all silhouettes of skirt count. My clientele are an even split. Generally, those who prefer to wear skirts do so because they find skirts easier to fit than pants, especially when ...

Sterling Arsenal – Critical Koting Beretta 92s Refurbished Police Trade-In

Critical Koting Beretta 92s Refurbished Police Trade-In U.S.A. –-( A while back I had a chance to purchase a couple of Beretta 92s Italian police trade-in guns for a great price. With most police trade-ins they come with a bit of holster wear. The price I paid for these guns were incredibly low, but they were guaranteed to work. Not surprisingly they were in a terrible cosmetic condition. I took the two Berettas to the range, and they worked flawlessly. I put a couple of hundred r...

The Debunker: Did 300 Spartans Hold Off a Million Persians at Thermopylae?

March has come in like a lion, and I hope that you're just as excited as I am to celebrate March 25, the Greek holiday that marks their 1821 war for independence from the Turks. Opa! "Greece" is the word! In honor of Greek independence, Ken Jennings from Jeopardy! is here all month to correct a lot of Greek mythology—things we thought we knew about the ancient land that gave us democracy, logic, and nude wrestling. It turns out a lot of this Socratic wisdom is all Greek to us. The Debunker: D...

In Defense of Gerard Butler, King of Modern Trash Cinema

By all accounts, Gerard Butler is a wild man. He stopped drinking at 27. This followed his stint as a law student at Glasgow University – where he gulped his way through a degree, smashed bottles over his own head at pubs, ran in front of cars, and even once woke up in Paris, miles from where he’d been at a party, covered in gashes and blood, and, years later, still couldn’t tell an interviewer what happened (because he honestly doesn’t recall). Upon graduation, he drank his way through his fir...

WeRunFar Profile: Mimi Anderson

In 2000, one of Mimi Anderson’s running friends came to the gym with a magazine in hand, excitedly announcing she had found their next race. It was an article featuring sand dunes and the blistered feet of those running the Marathon des Sables, the 250-kilometer, seven-day stage race in the Sahara Desert of Morocco. “It was so far away from my normal life that I knew I had to give it a go,” Mimi said. “Normal life” for the then-37 year old had included, so far, just one year of running and 15 ye...

This Is A Story About 'This Is Sparta!'

There was once a time when “This is Sparta” was arguably one of the more boring phrases in the English language ― reviewed on a projector that’s lightbulb always seemed to be dying during high school history class. If you went to high school in the late 2000s, you likely witnessed the tidal wave moment when the phrase rose from seemingly nothing to a generational obsession. The movie “300” debuted 10 years ago on March 9, 2007. It went on to gross nearly half a billion dollars worldwide, but it...
