Logos Bible Software Buys Out WordSearchBible.

Since this news appears not technically to belong in the "Christian Interest" thread of the "Deals and Resources" forum, I place it in this forum. Got an email today from WordSearch Bible, I think it was, that Logos Bible Software, a LifeWay Company, is buying out (or already has bought out) WordSearch Bible, a FaithLife company. Logos is, and maybe always has been, the 800-pound gorilla in the Bible software room. I say that largely because the functionality of Logos' Bible study tools have bee...

Felicitas Mendez Celebrated With A Google Doodle

Today on Google.com is a special Google Doodle for Felicitas Mendez on the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month. Felicitas Gómez Martínez de Mendez was a Puerto Rican activist in the American civil rights movement. In 1946, Mendez and her husband led an educational civil rights battle that changed California and set an important legal precedent for ending de jure segregation in the United States.

"This establishment is not black-owned, but you're stealing black culture... Trap Tea... You're thieves, Asian people, stealing black culture, once again...."

"You’re thieves! Asian people stealing black culture once again.” A strong, black Muslim woman went inside the new Trap Tea business in Aurora, Colo. on Friday and confronted the staff. A black customer tries to defend the business & is called a racial slur by her. pic.twitter.com/uejQ6nC8cr — Andy Ngô (@MrAndyNgo) August 23, 2020 I had to look up "trap" in the Urban Dictionary. I see the top-voted definition is a type of anime character, but there's also a secondary meaning, a place where dru...

Kansas City Chiefs Ban Headdresses and Native American-Themed Face Paint at Stadium

The announcement came just over a month after Washington’s football team announced, under pressure from corporate sponsors, that it would drop its logo and the Redskins name.

I don't agree that it takes a threat to motivate Google to do this.

Google has enabled a system for identifying “black owned” businesses. This can not be morally or rationally defended. It is obviously a response to a credible threat.https://t.co/bStLYPFEYQ— Bret Weinstein (@BretWeinstein) August 2, 2020 [Author: [email protected] (Ann Althouse)]

The much improved logo for the Rangers Football Club logo

In decades past, logo redesigns were usually worse than the original. But in recent years logo redesigns seem to have gotten a lot better. Case in point, the new logo for the Rangers Football Club. It's bolder and easier to read but retains the overall feel of the original logo. Even Rangers fans are happy with the redesign if the YouTube comments on this video are representative of popular sentiment.

"Facebook on Thursday said it had take action against ads run by President Trump's re-election campaign for breaching its policies on hate."

"The ads, which attacked what the Trump campaign described as "Dangerous MOBS of far-left groups," featured an upside-down triangle. The Anti-Defamation League said Thursday the triangle 'is practically identical to that used by the Nazi regime to classify political prisoners in concentration camps.' 'We removed these posts and ads for violating our policy against organized hate. Our policy prohibits using a banned hate group's symbol to identify political prisoners without the context that cond...

How to Give Emotionally Intelligent Presentations

Aristotle said that there are 3 ways to really engage and persuade your audience. The first is logos—the use of logic and facts. The second is ethos—the use of credibility and charisma. The third is pathos—the use of emotional appeals. While all 3 work together to create a balanced presentation, today we’ll be zooming in on pathos. We strongly believe that increasing your emotional intelligence and vocabulary will make you a better speaker. Why Emotions Are So Important When you use emotional ...

"My father had been interested in art since boyhood, when he drew images related to his Ojibwe culture."

"After leaving Pipestone boarding school in Minnesota in 1942, he joined the Navy and was assigned to San Diego, where he worked alongside animation artists from MGM and Walt Disney producing brochures and films for the war effort. In 1946, he established himself as one of the first modernists in American Indian fine art. After I was born in 1946, my family moved from Red Lake, Minn., to Minneapolis, where my father broke racial barriers by establishing himself as an American Indian commercial a...

Hot Pockets, Strategy and the Right-Sizing of Trademark Protection?

We’ve covered many trademark and brand management themes over the last eleven years, this falls in the category: The Right-Sizing of Trademark Protection? Let’s Talk Logos

It turns out your logo might not be working as hard as you think it is. Research from UCLA asked participants to recall or identify the Apple logo. Ready to be shocked? Only 1 participant out of 85 could correctly recall it. And when it came to identifying it, less than 50% of participants were able to do so. So if customers can’t even recall a logo as common as Apple’s, what is the purpose of branding? Before you give up on your logo, let’s talk about how they really work and how to tell your c...
