Yes, It's Okay To Not Go To Prom

Prom season is here, which means that prom #content is everywhere. I’ve definitely awww -ed over some cute promposals, but with all the prom articles, Instagram posts, and ads everywhere, it can be hard to remember that prom is not actually mandatory.I skipped prom for a few different reasons: I’d been to two homecoming dances before, and while I’d had an okay time, it didn’t feel the need to repeat it with a much-pricier ticket (another reason I skipped). How Dustbowl Revival revitalized its sound ahead of Southern California shows

Back in 2007, singer-guitarist Zach Lupetin founded the band Dustbowl Revival in order to play a mix of folk, jazz and other Dixieland and Depression-era sounds. The band’s lineup, a fluid group of 20 or so Los Angeles-area musicians gleaned from Craigslist, was great for creating music, but impractical for touring. “It was a group of people who met up occasionally,” Lupetin said of the original crew and how the line-up was eventually winnowed down. “A band is like a family. You have to really b...
