Comment on piña colada by erin | wots4dinner

These are super tasty but we found the pineapple overshadowed the coconut. Second round, we switched to Malibu rum and added more coco lopez but the extra cream of coconut made it sickeningly sweet. I’m thinking next time we’ll swap some of the frozen pineapple for ice cubes

Southern Californians who fail to heed coronavirus warnings run into new restrictions – especially at the beach

The weekend brought an onslaught of cooped-up, stressed-out folks to Southern California beaches, parks and trails. But Sunday, the public found yellow caution tape draped off a popular basketball court in Laguna Beach; piers in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach blocked to visitors; volleyball courts stripped of their nets on the sand across Los Angeles County. Some coastal towns were particularly hard hit with an unexpected number of beachgoers over the weekend, raising outrage that not everyon...

Though it has humble beginnings rooted in a Pennsylvania skate camp, Ripndip has ballooned to become one of L.A.’s hottest apparel brands — and arguably now one of those hypebeast labels whose outsized popularity with clout chasers seems to defy any rational considerations. That success is largely thanks to Ripndip’s mascot Lord Nermal, the smiley […]

Famous TV house locations

The running joke with Friends is that no 20-somethings in New York could ever afford that apartment. Of course, we’ve got no way to prove that, since the “apartment” was actually a sound stage, and there’s not exactly a Zillow listing for fictional addresses. But many shows shot their exterior shots at real live homes that you can go drive by and annoy the current occupants today. Many of which are valued at a lot more than their fictional occupants could ever afford. HomeAdvisor did some dig...

Jimenez finally gets his LA Marathon victory

Rafael Botello Jimenez found him in an all too familiar place in the final stages of the 35th Los Angeles Marathon Sunday morning. The wheelchair division was coming down to a two-man race between Jose Argeenes Jimenez Hernandez of Costa Rica and Spain’s Jimenez, a three-time runner up in Los Angeles. But instead of dueling downtown the final stretch of the race, Jimenez and Hernandez exchanged congratulatory fist bumps along Ocean Avenue, reaching a deal to finish together. Jimenez, 41, crossed...

LA County fire chief holds out hope funding will pass, but it would take a lot of still-uncounted votes

Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby said Wednesday, March 4, he remained hopeful that ballots still to be counted can push his department’s funding Measure FD to the two-thirds “yes” vote necessary to pass it. A majority – nearly 53 percent – of voters in cities and unincorporated areas served by his department voted for the parcel tax, but state law requires 66.6 percent for approval. “I know they are still counting votes,” Osby said. “We are concerned about the initial returns…We are goin...

Malibu Delivers a Much-Needed Taste of Summer to Scotland

Malibu believes that summer is more than sunshine and tropical beaches. Summer is a feeling; it’s freedom, it’s social, it’s trying new things. Sadly, that feeling can be short-lived, particularly during the dark, winter months. That’s why this February, Malibu is bringing a slice of summer to residents of the least summery places, as part of its Summer Feels Tour.Typically enduring 170 days of wet weather each year, Glasgow is the first stop on Malibu’s Summer Feels Tour which hopes to recreate...
