Yesterday’s Scandal, Today’s Mandate: Antis Embraces Operation Choke Point as Policy

Opinion U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) unabashedly embraced the tactics behind one of the most shameful policies of the Obama era, openly using the guise of her federal authority to berate and not so subtly threaten a bank for lawfully serving businesses that don’t reflect her political views. While the media did their best to protect Barack Obama and his administration from any hint of scandal, two gun related issues man...

Pasadena, Alhambra move forward on obtaining twin 710 Freeway stubs from Caltrans

With state legislation proposed that could remove the 710 Freeway extension from future consideration, Alhambra and Pasadena are making preparations for what could happen to the almost-100 acres of land comprising the loose freeway ends. State Sen. Anthony Portantino’s Senate Bill 7 would permanently prevent a freeway tunnel, surface freeway or expressway from being built to connect the 710 between the 10 and 210 freeways. Assemblyman Chris Holden’s Assembly Bill 29 would remove that stretch of ...

A Recent History of Coyotes Deadline Deals

For the first time in quite a while, Arizona Coyotes had a relatively uneventful trade deadline day. They weren’t buyers. They weren’t sellers. They just…sat around and watched. And that isn’t a bad thing – the ‘Yotes have been ravaged by injuries this year, and they knew they’d be getting multiple injured players back in the days following the Feb. 25 trade deadline. John Chayka didn’t have to do much at the 2019 NHL trade deadline. (Photo by Dave Sandford/NHLI via Getty Images) And indeed th...

The Constitution Doesn't Give Women Equal Rights — Congress Wants To Change That

In the United States of America, women are still not equal to men in the eye of the U.S. Constitution. This is because the Constitution fails to include language that guarantees equal rights for all citizens, regardless of their gender. The Equal Rights Amendment, first introduced in 1923, aimed to correct that. But nearly a century has gone by and lawmakers have failed to advance this constitutional amendment. That might change with the 116th Congress. On Tuesday, a bipartisan group launched a n...

An Up-Close Look at Housing Insecurity (and How to Help!)

Five years ago, Timothy C. Acena was living - and sleeping - in his wheelchair behind a busy fast-food restaurant. At night, he'd park himself on a fresh piece of cardboard near the restaurant's dumpster and clip together a makeshift awning of eight umbrellas to protect him and the five backpacks full of his belongings from the elements. During the day, he'd sit in front of the restaurant and ask customers to buy him a meal, which they always did, he says. He used the restaurant's bathrooms and ...
