They play hockey, these kids. They love the game. They love each other, and with courage. Thus, when their thirteen-year-old teammate kept getting taunted by opposing players because he’s black, these white kids said no. Not gonna take it. He’s our friend, so leave him alone. Cut out the taunts. Stop the putdowns. And with that, something changed. Standing up for their friend, this scrappy bunch of kids from the Metro Maple Leafs in Odenton, Maryland, inspired the grownups — parents and coaches ...

No. 6 Michigan State, No. 19 Maryland clash in key Big Ten game

Tom Izzo was a happy guy on Thursday night. His sixth-ranked Michigan State team had just earned a tough road win over Nebraska, its fourth straight away from home and 11th in a row overall. It kept the Spartans (16-2, 7-0) atop the Big Ten standings, a feat made even more noteworthy considering they have been without junior guards Joshua Langford (ankle) and Kyle Ahrens (back) -- Langford for five games and Ahrens for two.

Glorious Glenstone: An Immersive Experience of Art in 230 Acres of Natural Beauty

Glenstone is the new museum in Potomac in Maryland they’ve built to display the superlative art they’ve acquired over the years. For a few years, the Raleses have provided a lovely, 9,000-square-foot gallery space designed by Charles Gwathmey to show a portion of their collection by artists I would call modern masters, mostly from the 1950s to today. Working with the architect Thomas Phifer and the firm PWP Landscape Architecture, the couple expanded the exhibition space to 59,000 square feet.
