Shafter man ID'd in McFarland traffic fatality

The Kern County coroner has identified the victim of a McFarland traffic fatality that happened on Friday, November 23.30-year-old Alonso Ornelas-Garcia of Shafter was the operator of a vehicle that crashed on SR 99 and Perkins Avenue in McFarland just before midnight.Ornelas-Garcia died from his injuries aat the scene and a postmortem examination will be performed to confirm the cause and manner of his death.

McFarland schools placed on lockdown today

According to the McFarland Unified School District, schools were placed on a brief lockdown this afternoon, following a notification that the Kern County Sheriff's Office was executing a warrant in the community.The District said in a Facebook post that the lockdown was called in the abundance of caution and was lifted as soon as KCSO gave the District a signal of 'all clear'.
