Sanctions, OPEC cuts push Asia's heavy crude oil prices above Brent

Middle East oil benchmarks Dubai and DME Oman have nudged above prices for Brent crude, an unusual move as U.S. sanctions on Venezuela and Iran along with output cuts by OPEC tighten supply of medium to heavy oil, traders and analysts said. Heavier grades, mainly produced in the Middle East, Canada and Latin America, typically have a high sulphur content and are usually cheaper than Brent, the benchmark for lighter oil in the Atlantic Basin.

Audax racks up $3.5 bln for sixth mid-market fund

Boston-based buyout shop Audax Group has closed its oversubscribed sixth fund at a hard cap of $3.5 billion, beating its $3 billion target. Audax Private Equity Fund VI will invest in middle-market companies in North America. The fund’s investors span the globe, ranging from the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific to the Middle East, Canada and Latin America. Axis Capital to buy Lloyd’s of London insurer Novae for $605 mln: Reuters

(Reuters) — Lloyd’s of London insurer Novae Group Plc said it had agreed to be taken over by Axis Capital Holdings Ltd, a Bermuda-based speciality insurer and reinsurer, for 467.6 million pounds ($605.07 million) in cash, sending its shares soaring over 20 percent.
