What Good Can A Handgun Do Against An Army?

Recall when I said this? Do you suppose this would look like great land armies getting into formation at the edges of great fields of battle and marching towards each other?  What do you think such a messy civil war in America would look like?  Bubba would be wearing a Ghillie suit, shooting a bolt action rifle, or a modern sporting rifle, and after the shot you will never hear from him again – until the next one.  And you’ll never catch him.  Police will have to decide what side to take, and if...

Of What Use Is A Mere Pistol?

Danish resistance fighters disarming Germans. The picture appears to be legitimate.  I’m reminded of two things.  First, a comment on TCJ. At the end of WWII, a German prisoner who knew English quite well asked my father if he could just see a .45 acp cartridge. He asked why they exploded when they hit. My father explained that they didn’t. The guy then showed him a large exit wound on his leg from a .45 slug the German took during the retreat from Paris. Second, while I can’t seem to locate it...

Questioning The Three-Percenters?

Reddit/r/firearms: From The Three Percenters are a national group that was loosely organized in 2008 by Mike Vanderboegh, the late militia leader and author of the controversial novel, Absolved. Their central ideology is a strict reading of the Second Amendment’s clauses of a ” well-regulated militia” and “right of the people to keep and bear arms,” feeling these protections permit armed insurrection in the face of governmental power grabs. The name Three Percenters is based on a...

Hard Times Ahead For Gun Owners And Ammunition Buyers

I am neither a prophet nor son of a prophet (2 Kings 2:3).  If I’m wrong, no one stands to lose anything.  But if I’m right, we might all be headed for rough times ahead. There is such a proliferation of gun control and ammunition control articles, commentaries, editorials and laws that it would be impossible to mention them all, let along discuss them.  Boulder has just announced a new assault weapons ban.  The LA Times advocates ammunition regulation, Smith & Wesson will soon be under pressure...

Colorado Second Amendment Rally Honors Three Percent Founder Mike Vanderboegh

Codrea: This year’s march will honor a patriot and friend who ended his earthly struggle almost a year ago. Publisher George Gramlich asked me to inform Oath Keepers that Mike Vanderboegh’s legacy will behonored and carried on, at least in this section of Colorado. Well, I know George Gramlich and he is a genuinely good guy.  So is David Codrea.  And so was Mike Vanderboegh.  I miss Mike an awful lot.  If I lived anywhere near the area in Colorado, I would be there.

Southern Poverty Law Center Being Used By Google For Reputation Research

Not that my readers need any introduction to the SPLC, but I wanted to go around the traffic circle one more time and remind you of something I noted a few weeks back. David Codrea had a post where he linked the new Google guidelines for identifying “offensive” search results.  Right there on page 44, we read this. Reputation research is important for identifying websites which promote hate and violence. The Pew Research Center, the Anti-Defamation League, and the Southern Poverty Law Center ar...

Lies Of Omission

Via WRSA, here are two videos well worth your time.  While watching, I’m reminded of how much I miss hearing my old friend Mike Vanderboegh.  I do miss him. Sipsey Street Irregulars Blog Closes Operations

By David Codrea Happier times in photo taken in October, 2008 at Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot: Although we’d “known” each other for years via emails and phone calls, this was the first time I’d met my friends, firearm designer Len Savage and liberty advocate Mike Vanderboegh, in person. Remembering Mike Vanderboegh

Mike Vanderboegh has passed away.  We knew this was coming, but it’s still bracing and reflective at the same time.  Since I’m going to link a number of articles and commentaries at the end, I see no point in recapitulating what’s already been said.  Instead, I have some (what I hope to be) unique reflections to make about Mike. I’ve heard it said that such-and-such a man had “redeeming qualities.”  Hogwash.  Men don’t have redeeming qualities.  Men are themselves redeemed, or they are lost.  Th...
