Alexander: Lancaster Jethawks’ chance of staying in Cal League might depend on … Fresno

In the Antelope Valley right now, the waiting is the hardest part. Lancaster has known for a little more than a year that its tenure as a professional baseball town was tenuous. When the reports of Major League Baseball’s initiative to chop the minor leagues down to 120 teams was first disclosed last October, it was one of the spots considered most vulnerable. Even then, the talk was that MLB was contemplating bumping Fresno back down to the Class A California League and squeezing Lancaster out....

Comment on sweet corn spoonbread by MJ

New to your website, I’m truly enthusiastic about your recipes. Not new to cooking and baking, your creativity is much appreciated. One thing. I often read reviews for guidance, popular approval, hints, encouragement to proceed. The reviews here seem to be overwhelmingly from people who haven’t made the recipe. Why do we want to know that they think it looks and sounds good, or they can’t wait to make it ? How about the cooking experience? Please share reviews that add to our knowledge and under...

Music from the heart, with an AI assist

The next time you hear a popular song on the radio, listen to the beat behind the lyrics. Usually, a high-powered production team came up with it—but in the future, that beat could be created with help from artificial intelligence. That’s what Googler MJ Jacob predicts, as he combines his job as an engineer with his love for writing and performing rap music. Usually based in Google’s offices in New York City, MJ is working from his Manhattan apartment these days as a customer engineer for Google...

Warriors’ Klay Thompson to miss 2020-21 season with Achilles tear

Warriors guard Klay Thompson will miss the entire 2020-21 season with an Achilles tear, according to multiple reports. ESPN was first to report the news, and added Thompson, 30, is expected to make a full recovery “based on the type of tear.” Thompson underwent an MRI Thursday morning after suffering an injury to his right leg during a pickup game in Southern California. The injury will sideline Thompson for the second straight season. Having spent all of last year recovering from a torn left AC...

Alexander: LaMelo Ball is Charlotte-bound to join MJ’s Hornets

The one-liners began to fly Wednesday evening, almost immediately after the Golden State Warriors took James Wiseman with the No. 2 pick of the NBA draft. That meant the odds were good that LaMelo Ball was about to become a Charlotte Hornet with the No. 3 pick, which in fact he was. And it also meant that some of those past braggadocious statements from LaVar Ball, particularly the one when he said in his prime he could take Michael Jordan one-on-one, were about to be resurrected. Jordan, of cou...

Father Time may get exhausted trying to rein in LeBron James

On the morning that the IPromise School opened in Akron, LeBron James did more for society than his accumulated critics ever have. Theirs is an odd coalition of Michael Jordan’s sycophants, political opportunists, and pseudo-traditionalists who prefer their stars stay in one city and in one box. They have nearly made the deconstruction of James into a curriculum, with a B.S. in irrationality. On Saturday James’ team reached the NBA Finals for the ninth time in 10 seasons and 10th overall. He can...

This supercut of LeBron James’ “signature” move proves MJ would have smoked him like a brisket

With the confirmation of the NBA’s 22-team return on Thursday, questions abound. Can the Lakers triumph in the memory of Kobe Bryant? Assuming the world is still here to play basketball upon, we’ll have the answers to those questions soon enough, but that last one brings us to our true purpose here today: This supercut of LeBron’s “signature” move, which proves once and for all that that MJ would smoke LBJ like a 12-pound brisket.

Who Moved My Freedom Podcast Episode 570 – Crispy11b & Maj Toure

Omar Avila “Crispy11b” U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- “I noticed that me telling my story, was keeping my brothers memory alive!”, that was Crispy’s response to my question of whether or not it was difficult to have to repeat his story every time he came on shows and Podcast like mine. Wounded Warrior Omar “Crispy” Avila’s story is unfortunately not uncommon and not easy to recount without awe and sadness either. Yet we must never forget the price our warriors pay so that we may enjoy the fruits of...

Three Views on Competition

-I- Mid-quarantine sports media has gone nostagic out of necessity, with the recent Michael Jordan documentary leading the charge, and thereby it has been pointed out that MJ's pathological competitiveness would today run afoul of numerous sensitivities. Leaving aside for now the litigation of those sensitivities and the triteness of the observation, I think it is nonetheless an observation worth dwelling upon and extending: the games are mere escapist entertainment and the Darwinistic elemen...

Brazil’s President Bolsonaro: “An armed people will never be enslaved!”

U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- On 22 May 2020, the Supreme Court of Brazil issued an order that a recording of a private meeting of President Bolsonaro with his staff is made public.  President Bolsonaro uses impassioned language some might find offensive. It shows what President Bolsonaro thinks when he is not in the public view.  The video is of a meeting on April 22, 2020. The public exposure of the video echoes what has been happening in the Trump administration.  The political opposition to Bo...

The Last Dance: Scottie Pippen Was Michael Jordan's Right-Hand Man - Are They Still Close?

Even if basketball isn't your thing, it's hard to deny that ESPN's The Last Dance is pretty damn entertaining. The focus of the 10-part sports documentary is on Michael Jordan during the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls season, but the series also delves into MJ's relationships with his teammates, including his friendship with fellow Bull Scottie Pippen. Michael was involved in the making of the series, and though he expressed plenty of admiration for his former teammate, the documenta...

Michael Jordan burned bridges, LeBron James builds them. I know who I prefer

I was born and raised in Chicago and idolized Jordan growing up. But, unexpectedly, The Last Dance has made me gravitate towards LeBron I am hard pressed to name another athlete who has dominated my life quite like Michael Jeffrey Jordan. You see, I was born in Chicago a few years before he arrived in town and I came of age as he himself blossomed from a college hero into a global icon. Somewhere deep inside an armoire drawer, I have a t-shirt that reads: “Sorry Sir Charlie, You Can’t Be Like M...

Comment on simple, essential bolognese by MJ

I am so glad to see this. I love your lasagna, but having tried your sauce in the past I think that the red wine is too harsh. Yet Hazan’s, which I turned to once again when I recently made quarantine Bolognese for your lasagna, is insufficiently tomato-y for my American tastes. I look forward to trying this new version, which looks perfect – except I’ll make a double recipe. Now my question: if I have bacon, should I use that if I don’t have pancetta? Or is it better just to use olive oil?
