Comment on salted brown butter crispy treats by Nancy

In reply to Sarah Benitez. I completely agree about using the vegan marshmallows. I grabbed a bag from Trader Joe’s not realizing they were different. They don’t melt and spread. At all. I am concerned that I cooked the marshmallow which may make them too hard to eat. I am serving these for a group tonight and they look kinda strange but probably will still be delicious. At least that’s my hope. I make all the time using regular marshmallows and everything works perfectly.

Delroy Lindo Will Spin a Web as Anansi Boys' Mr. Nancy

Though Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and Anansi Boys novels feature some key bits of crossover, Amazon’s upcoming Anansi Boys series is set to reintroduce the world to the trickster god Mr. Nancy. It will also be wholly independent of the character’s depiction in Starz’s American Gods adaptation. Beloved as Orlando…Read more...

Delroy Lindo Lands Lead Role in Neil Gaiman’s ‘Anansi Boys’ Amazon Series, As He Deserves

A project on the level of Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys demands a lead who can lend a sense of gravitas and screen presence to the proceedings. Well, those just happen to be two qualities that practically define British-American actor Delroy Lindo and, apparently, the decision-makers at Amazon agree. I’m sure we can all agree that this is what he deserves! As per The Hollywood Reporter, Delroy Lindo has been chosen to play Mr. Nancy (aka Anansi, the trickster god from African and Caribbean folkl...

Amazon Orders Adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys

There is at least one character from  American Gods  who survived the recent cancellation of the show. A few months ago, news broke out about Starz ending the series after the third season. Now, someone else has picked one of the American Gods characters as Amazon has just ordered Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys adaptation (via SuperHeroHype ). In American Gods, Anansi — or Mr. Nancy — is the West African trickster god portrayed by Orlando Jones. Production on the six-episode series will begin in Sco...

Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys Is Becoming an Amazon Series (Without Orlando Jones)

Despite sputtering out in the two seasons before its cancellation after season three, Starz’s live-action American Gods adaptation was one of the network’s first impressive feats of genre storytelling that, at least initially, had the promise of paving the way for more stories in a world where gods and monsters walked…Read more...

Neil Gaiman’s ‘Anansi Boys’ Ordered to Series at Amazon, Won’t be an ‘American Gods’ Spin-off

Hollywood has fully jumped on board the Neil Gaiman bandwagon lately and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. Amazon, after inking him to an overall deal years ago that somewhat surprisingly allowed Good Omens to receive a second season, is continuing to go all-in on the author. Anansi Boys, based on Gaiman’s 2005 fantasy novel, has been ordered to series for a six episode run and will begin production later this year in Scotland after well over a year in development. And despite the ...

"Is calling something 'poetic' calling it a 'poem'?"

I find myself retorting to a reader, Nancy, who emailed me to say — in response to my calling something "a sincere effort at poetic polemic" — "Polemic, yes, but who would call that a poem?" At the link there's video of a performance called "White Privilege," which Slate called a "poem." I can see that I repeated that word, "poem," before my sentence that began with "I think": "I think it's a sincere effort at poetic polemic." I know I wrote "poetic polemic" to nudge the reader to question wheth...

I discovered Jasmine Guillory’s Wedding Date series last year, and since then have read every single book. While We Were Dating is the sixth in the series, but each book is standalone. While reading the others is not required to enjoy this latest installment, I highly recommend doing so. Ben Stephens is hoping to land […]

There has never been a federal agency with such little regard for the sanctity of human life, with such a history of failure, with such antiquated duties and responsibilities, with such a propensity to overreact, with such an addiction to good press, with such a willingness to bend over for any politician in charge, and – as we curren...

Comment on almond rhubarb picnic bars by Nancy

Hi! I finally got around to making these yesterday and I thought they were wonderful. My veg-o-phobe husband, though, actually picked off the rhubarb…it was outside his “comfort zone”. pitiful, I know. but, he LOVED the crust and almond filling. Wondering if you could suggest a fruit that might also work? I know it will have to be somethig that doesn’t give off a lot of juice when it cooks. I was thinking cherries would be delicious but probably too juicy. Any suggestions? Thanks for yo...
