Nats’ Dave Martinez aims to ‘face fear like bison’ in Year 2

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Among various sheets of paper thumbtacked to the corkboard in Dave Martinez’s spring training office — Florida Kitchen Staff, Important Dates, Pitchers Work Groups — there’s one in the upper-left corner entitled Face Fear Like Bison. The Washington Nationals’ manager came across its three-sentence message this offseason: “When a […]

Surprise star as teen, Soto helps Nats move on after Harper

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — It might seem as if Juan Soto has a big hole to fill in the Washington Nationals’ lineup, what with Bryce Harper gone. Soto is not the sort to worry about that type of thing, though. Last season’s surprise runner-up as NL Rookie of the Year at age 19, […]

AP source: Nats, lefty reliever Sipp agree to $1.25M deal

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The Washington Nationals are counting on Tony Sipp to give them something their bullpen lacked: a lefty reliever to go after lefty hitters in late-game situations. A person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Sipp and the Nationals agreed in principle on a one-year […]

Meet the man(nequin) keeping Nats' endless uniform combos straight

Suzuki, Gomes bring stability, pop behind plate for Nats

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — As important as setting his pitching rotation, Washington Nationals manager Dave Martinez will begin to determine his catching platoon when Grapefruit League games begin on Saturday. Columnist bashes Bryce Harper's fundamentals; Nats players says 'write it'

Tom Boswell of the Washington Post wrote a column over the weekend about how the 2019 Nats are looking really, really good. The Nats added some key pieces this offseason and, because so much of their underachieving 2018 season was based on health, particularly in the bullpen, there is reason to be optimistic this coming year. There is one weird passage in the middle of the column, though: a swipe at Bryce Harper, his fundamentals and his attitude.

Nats’ Zimmerman: Trying to win should be norm, not exception

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Ryan Zimmerman finds it odd that so many teams now feel the need to announce they are trying to win. “I try and win every day,” the veteran Washington Nationals first baseman said Sunday. “I think that’s kind of the point of sports. That’s kind of what the whole […]

Your USNT Line-Up v Costa Rica

We're back on the road again over here, but of course I'll still have USMNT ratings over at MLSS in the aftermath. Only a couple changes have been made by Gregg Berhalter, as he promised - I was hoping for a few more. And one of the changes is not what I wanted (can we see Canouse already?!). Urgh.In any event, I am still expecting the Nats to start turning this series around in San Jose. The [Author: Greg Seltzer]

AI tested at Heathrow could prevent plane delays in bad weather

Heathrow Airport is trialling new technology that could dramatically cut travel delays caused by low visibility on runways. Air traffic management service NATS has started a three-month test of the AI system, which if deployed could cut down lost time at the UK's largest airport by 20pc and reduce the amount of late-running flights.  Heathrow has the highest airport control tower in the UK at 87 metres, but this means it can be surrounded by low cloud even when the runways are clear. In thes...
