Vodafone Finally Catches Up with 5G Reality

Since he was promoted to the position of Vodafone’s chief executive in October, Nick Read has been adamant that the dividend was sustainable. Its 18 billion euro ($20.2 billion) purchase of Liberty Global Plc’s cable assets in Germany and eastern Europe has increased Vodafone’s debt to 2.9 times Ebitda, above the peer average.

Vodafone Pauses Huawei Purchases as Governments Mull Bans

Vodafone, one of the world’s largest mobile carriers, will “pause” buying Huawei equipment for the core of its networks in Europe amid talks with the company and various agencies and governments, the U.K. company’s chief executive officer, Nick Read, said. The move by Vodafone follows a decision by BT Group Plc to rip Huawei gear out of the backbone of its U.K. mobile network. Deutsche Telekom AG, Europe’s largest carrier and a major Huawei customer, is also reviewing its purchasing strategy.

Vodafone Misses Revenue Estimates as European Business Keeps Shrinking

Service revenue fell 3.9 percent to 9.79 billion euros ($11.1 billion) in the three months to Dec. 31, narrowly below the average analyst forecast of 9.82 billion euros in a company-compiled survey.
