Calibre not responding

First of all, I really love Calibre. I found an old collection of EBooks and the ease of sorting out, correcting meta, deleting unwanted titles and generally playing librarian really soothes the autistic part of my mind. Since a couple of weeks the program became unresponsive. Please find the steps already taken below. Could you please help me out? I've been at it for days and I don't seem to be making any progress. Calibre really calmed me and I was so happy using it, I would love to fix this...

The round — which is one of the highest to date for a Vietnamese tech company — comes from PE firm Northstar Group. A $1 billion Gates Foundation-backed education initiative failed to help students — here’s how the foundation's next $450 million project will look

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation spent more than $200 million on a teacher effectiveness initiative, and an independent assessment found that the program failed to help students. Now the Gates Foundation is trying a new approach: supporting local organizations that work directly with teachers and principals. Professors who specialize in education told Business Insider that the new initiative's focus on local groups is a step in the right direction. However, experts noted the Gates Foundat...

An Apple facility that repairs iPhones in California called 9-1-1 over 2,000 times in 4 months — and nobody knows how to stop it (AAPL)

A string of false 911 calls from an Apple repair facility has plagued a small city near Sacramento for months. The calls appear to originate from iPhones being repaired, and at one point tied up all six emergency lines for the city of Elk Grove, California. The city has worked with Apple to resolve the problem, but has been frustrated by Apple's inability to stop the phones from calling its emergency lines. A small city near Sacramento has been dealing with a never-ending string of false eme...

Rock tumblers are annoying, loud gifts

Perfect for the kid of someone you don't like very much is a Rock Tumbler. Most kids who receive a rock tumbler want to turn that sucker right on and polish up some precious stones. The tumbler makes a ton of noise for weeks, eventually gets turned off, and then the grit + rocks harden into cement. A waste of time and energy that creates an awful racket! This rock tumbler is cheap, so you don't break the bank pissing off that brother-in-law you can't stand. NSI Rock Tumbler Classic via Amazo...

The Guardian view on public health: confronting the National Sickness Industry | Editorial

With budgets tight and lifestyle diseases burgeoning, the NHS will not be saved until the vested interests ranged against it are taken onEver since the inception of the NHS, a familiar complaint has been that it is more of a National Sickness Service than a health service in the true sense. The naive hope of Aneurin Bevan was that ploughing through the backlog of untreated ailments would get the people into such good shape that the costs would start to fall. The opposite turned out to be true in...
