Zillow: U.S. Home Values Record First Monthly Decline Since 2012

The median home value in the United States dropped from March to April, the first monthly decline since February 2012. This is according to the April Zillow Real Estate Market Report. A typical home in the U.S. is worth $226,800 – down 0.1 percent from last month – which Zillow says is led by the trends observed in the real estate market of the West Coast. “The decline […] comes after 85 straight months of gains that brought home values to record highs,” the Zillow release reads. “U.S. hom...

Where will Southern California house 2.76 million millennial homebuyers?

If you think it’s already hard to find a bargain in the Southern California home market, imagine adding a youthful flock of 2.76 million potential house hunters to the equation. Data crunchers at Zillow say a house-hunting imbalance is brewing, created by an expanding wave of millennials. This group faces a challenging supply of housing, especially “starter homes” — defined by Zillow as the bottom third of a market, price-wise. These residences are getting more expensive — and there are fewer av...

Increasing Inventory: A Byproduct of Demand, or More Sellers?

Inventory is opening up—but is it because homeowners are jumping to sell? The answer is unlikely, according to the latest market report by Zillow, which found that while there were improved inventory levels in March overall, there has been a downtrend in fresh listings on the market for four months in a row. Compared to last March, there were 1.2 percent more homes on the market this year, according to Zillow, but also 6.1 percent fewer fresh listings in the same window. The catalyst is demand, ...

‘WandaVision’ Will Have a 1950s Aesthetic, According to Elizabeth Olsen

We’ve seen so little of Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) relationship on the big screen, so it’s difficult to guess what their upcoming Disney+ series will look like. The two Avengers have a deep and sincere romance that has mostly happened offscreen, and it will finally get the spotlight in the upcoming WandaVision. So what is WandaVision actually about? We still have no clue, but Elizabeth Olsen is giving us an intriguing tease of a few WandaVision details. In an intervi...

Steve Madden & Urban Outfitters Joined Forces To Bring Us The Ultimate 90s Throwback Collab

Scouring eBay, Poshmark, and Depop isn't a task for the faint of heart — but it's exactly what we've been doing to find a pair of slip-ons, those nostalgia-inducing platforms we donated to Goodwill back in 2007. Back then, we could have never expected that the iconic Steve Madden slip-ons from our heyday (and the heydays of the Olsen twins, Lizzie McGuire and the Spice Girls) would re-emerge as the shoe trend of the season just 12 years later.Alas, Steve Madden's throwback sandals are officiall...

LAFC, Carlos Vela look to maintain success at DC United

Facing a marquee matchup against D.C. United that has been billed a potential MLS Cup final, Los Angeles Football Club head coach Bob Bradley dismissed any praise his squad received from fans and media following a scorching opening month as mere “early-season talk.” By boasting a star who appears to be growing as a player as he hunts for an MLS MVP award, and setting the pace in the Supporters Shield race with 13 of 15 points, LAFC (4-0-1) finds a locker room that is comfortable with carrying th...

Apple TV+ makes Facebook Watch look like a joke

Apple flexed its wallet today in a way Facebook has scared to do. Tech giants make money by the billions, not the millions, which should give them an easy way to break into premium video distribution: buy some must-see content. That’s the strategy I’ve been advocating for Facebook but that Apple actually took to heart. Tim Cook wrote lines of zeros on some checks, and suddenly Steven Spielberg, JJ Abrams, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Oprah became the well-known faces of Apple TV+. Fa...

Some think Apple News' subscription service is a bad deal for publishers. Here's why The Wall Street Journal thinks it'll benefit.

The Wall Street Journal is participating in Apple News+, Apple's new all-you-can-read subscription service. It's not worried about Apple News+ cannibalizing the Journal's own subscriptions. The Journal believes it can reach a general-news audience that isn't already subscribing. The Journal was the only national newspaper to participate in the bundle, announced March 25, while The New York Times and Washington Post turned it down. The Wall Street Journal turned heads with the news today that ...

‘Villains’ Review: Home is Where the Horrors Are in This Ferociously Funny Thriller [SXSW]

Dan Berk and Robert Olsen ’s Villains isn’t their first genre rodeo, and it shows. Their feature debut Body ignited their affair with home invasion horror, Stake Land II sucked some serious sequel blood, and their script for Don’t Kill It burst with howlin’ mad body-possession beats. So what makes Villains their most gratifyingly unstable and deliciously dark midnighter yet? Simplicity in casting: Bill Skarsgård and Maika Monroe . Maybe that’s my specific answer, but I’d watch ...

Chloe Grace Moretz Is Ready To Scare The Sh*t Out Of You

Chloe Grace Moretz has been acting since she was an adolescent, and she’s got the poise and wiser-than-her-years disposition to prove it. When she’s waxing poetic about the “cacophony of scenes and macabre moments” in her latest film, a horror thriller called Greta in theaters Friday, you almost forget how young Moretz is. Then, in the same breath, she’s gushing about Britney Spears — she’s got stickers of the pop star plastered to her phone — and she sounds like every other twentysomething who...

11 times the Los Angeles Rams went Hollywood

The Los Angeles Rams arrived in L.A. in 1946, but you could argue they’d gone Hollywood two years earlier when they drafted UCLA quarterback Bob Waterfield, who married screen star Jane Russell when the team still played in Cleveland. Or maybe it happened in 1949 with “Easy Living,” in which the film’s fictional football players roles were played by Rams such as Kenny Washington, Elroy “Crazylegs” Hirsch, and Fred Gehrke (who created the Rams’ horns logo). Regardless of the exact moment, Hollywo...

Milan (AFP) – Federico Chiesa scored a hat-trick as Fiorentina crushed Roma 7-1 to cruise into the Coppa Italia semi-finals on Wednesday. Chiesa scored two early on, adding a third in the second half past overwhelmed Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen, with Giovanni Simeone bagging a brace in the last ten minutes. Marvel’s ‘The Vision and Scarlet Witch’ TV Series Finds a Showrunner in ‘Captain Marvel’ and ‘Black Widow’ Screenwriter

The last time we saw Vision (Paul Bettany) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), one was having his head torn apart by Thanos and the other was being turned to dust by a godlike snap. But, spoiler alert, they get better – they have a new series coming to the Disney+ streaming service. And now, that new series has a showrunner and a title.
