Omega-3 expert supports new research that shows omega-6 is good for you

There has been a fierce debate over the last decade or so about the health benefits of omega-6 fatty acids. One side believes they are too ubiquitous in the diet and fuel the inflammation underpinning many of today's chronic diseases. Another side believes that the most consumed omega-6 -- linoleic acid (LA) -- could be just as important as omega-3s in reducing disease risk.

OMEGA 3 FATS FOR BETTER SPERM

Omega 3 Fats Are Beneficial To Sperm I keep hearing about all the benefits of Omega 3 fats in your diet.  There is research showing that saturated fats are bad for sperm.  On the other hand, men should be consuming omega 3 fats like those found in fish. According to this study, these beneficial fats may help sperm. Although this study was done in mice, omega 3's have so many other health benefits, it probably would be a good idea for men trying to conceive to add these fats in their die...

Fifteen Ways Jesus Christ Suffered in Love

Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen comments on the many names and titles that we can give for Jesus. Jesus is often called the Way, the Truth, the Life, the Bread of Life, and the Living Water. He also might be called the Lamb of God, the Alpha and Omega, as well as the Good Shepherd. However, the name that most perfectly exemplifies the purpose of Jesus’s coming and the purpose of His death and Resurrection is that of Savior! Jesus’ mission was to save all of humanity, as well as our individu...

Infringing by Using a System vs Making/Selling the System

by Dennis Crouch Omega Patents LLC v. CalAmp Corp. (Fed. Cir. 2019) Omega’s patents cover remote control and monitoring systems for vehicles.  The defendant, CalAmp, helps companies and governments monitor their vehicles (location and status, such as battery health and vehicle speed).  In the infringement trial, a Florida jury sided with the patentee – finding the patents willfully infringed and not invalid.  The district court then trebled the damages and awarded attorney fees — for a tidy sum...

Omega-3 fatty acid supplements, hypothyroidism could lower risk of T-zone lymphoma in dogs

Dogs that receive omega-3 fatty acid supplements or have hypothyroidism may be less likely to develop T-zone lymphoma (TZL). Those are two findings from Morris Animal Foundation-funded researchers at Colorado State University, who studied associations of environment and health history of the disease among golden retrievers. They published their results in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids may play opposite roles in childhood asthma

Dietary intake of two fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6, may have opposite effects on the severity of asthma in children and may also play opposite roles in modifying their response to indoor air pollution, according to new research published online in the American Thoracic Society's American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

Omega-3 fatty acids tied to fewer childhood asthma symptoms

A six-month study of children from Baltimore City by Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers has added to evidence that having more omega-3 fatty acids in the diet results in fewer asthma symptoms triggered by indoor air pollution. The same study suggests that higher amounts of dietary omega-6 fatty acids may have the opposite effect, and be associated with more severe asthma.

New research shows people with PAD could have an omega-3 deficiency

New research published in the March 18 edition of Lipids showed that people who have peripheral artery disease (PAD) have a lower Omega-3 Index compared to those who don't have the disease. Because PAD is essentially atherosclerosis of the leg arteries, researchers in this study believe that patients with PAD may have an omega-3 fatty acid deficiency.

Kissing Cousins: I am Omega

Let’s get things straight from the get go… I am Omega is not, in any way, shape or form, a vampire film. It is, in the wider sense, a zombie film (the creatures might be infected rather than undead but we aren’t exactly sure). It does have a blood aspect, at the heart of it (that I’ll cover in the article), but completely removes the nocturnal aspect that was a feature of both book and the more mainstream makes. However the reason for looking at it is that it was based directly on I am Legend, ...

WIRTW #544 (the “it's a shame” edition)

I love how my kid's school embraces their individuality and creativity. Back in the fall, my wife and I had a quick conversation with one of Norah's teachers about her music, which led to him suggesting that she bring her guitar to school to share a song at one of their Wednesday morning all-division meetings. After a few weather related false starts, Norah finally had her chance this week. She chose to play It's a Shame, by First Aid Kit. I fully understand that I am a biased dad. But, I also t...
