Armed man killed by Burbank police in parking lot, authorities say

A man armed with a gun was fatally shot just before 5 a.m. Monday by Burbank police in a hotel parking lot, authorities said. Officers went to the Quality Inn in the 2200 block of North Buena Vista Street to check on a report of an unsupervised child in the lot, Burbank Sgt. Emil Brimway said. LA County’s legal costs jump, fueled by settlements and fees

Los Angeles County’s legal bills ticked upward last fiscal year, jumping from $148.5 million to $151.9 million, fueled by an increase in the amount paid out to settle lawsuits.
