Officials to tout 2.25-mile LAX Automated People Mover at groundbreaking

LOS ANGELES — A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Thursday for the 2.25-mile Automated People Mover at Los Angeles International Airport, which aims to cut down on auto traffic traveling in and out of the facility, officials said. The Los Angeles City Council Wednesday approved a $4.9 billion contract for the design and construction of an Automated People Mover system at Los Angeles International Airport that will carry passengers among terminals and connect with nearby rail lines. General Motors to Renovate, Expand Detroit Headquarters

The automaker announced Friday that upgrades to the Renaissance Center will include a multi-story addition and a large, LED video screen that wraps over the People Mover station in front of the building. It's also adding a GM retail store and other interactive displays.
