Shape Up Collection by Roll & Hill

The Shape Up Collection of lighting by Roll & Hill was designed by Seattle-born, Brooklyn-based Ladies & Gentlemen Studio. The largest of the pieces is Shape Up 5-Piece Chandelier, which perhaps does the best job of highlighting the geometric playfulness of the collection. A modular system of cords and hubs, Shape Up 5-Piece Chandelier can be composed “in response to a space’s architecture and function.” The Cone and Hemisphere are available in three finishes: blackened steel, brushed brass, an...

Forrest Lamp’s return, new additions bolster stability on Chargers offensive line

COSTA MESA – When Forrest Lamp arrived at training camp last season, it was tempting to see the towering rookie as the missing piece on a consistently puzzling Chargers offensive line. His arrival seemed especially serendipitous. A consensus first-round talent, Lamp tumbled all the way to 38th overall in the 2017 NFL draft, falling into the laps of the Chargers, who’d been weighing over several picks whether to trade up for him. Once practices began, it didn’t take long for coaches to warm to th...

Former LAPD employee charged with alleged workers comp fraud

A former LAPD employee has been charged with one count of workers’ compensation fraud after exaggerating the extent of his injuries while receiving money from the department. Gerald Pully, 51, an 18-year city employee, was last assigned to the LAPD’s Records and Identification Division. Pulley, who filed a medical compensation claim in 2016, concealed “material documentation” and made false claims of his injuries while receiving Temporary Total Disability monetary benefits from the department, a...

Chargers RB Melvin Gordon confident he can play through ankle injury

COSTA MESA — Melvin Gordon did not practice with the Chargers on Wednesday. But just days after setting a new personal rushing record, the third-year tailback is confident he’ll play in the regular-season finale against the Raiders — ankle injury or not. “I’m good,” he said. “I’ll be ready on Sunday.” Related Articles Miller: Philip Rivers and Chargers have a twisted path to January football NFL Week 17 in the L.A. Problem with spare tire rub marks - Pulley system

So I recently bought a 2011 Toyota Tacoma and after showing the wife how to lower the tire and checking it out for the first time I noticed some major rub marks from the frame. I read up on the tacoma forum and it happens a lot. I'm nervous about having this as my spare, but I figured I'd see if anyone else has run into this and if so what results, if any, from using it? Also figured I share to some of you who have never lowered your spare to maybe get you to check on it as well, always test ...

Early ’60s 1941 Ford Custom Show Truck Makes a Big Comeback

Styles took a turn for the wild in the early ’60s, and custom rods and show rods helped lead the way. Since the ’50s, builders like George Barris, Dean Jeffries, Ed Roth, Bill Cushenberry, Darryl Starbird, Gene Winfield, and many others were pushing the boundaries of customization further than they had ever been pushed. In some cases, these extreme custom styles were applied to trucks; the wildly customized Rod & Custom Dream Truck being one famous example. Another was a yellow Ford pickup ex...

Metro could use eminent domain to pave way for Green Hills traffic project

Metro Nashville could resort to using eminent domain to seize two commercial properties in Green Hills to accommodate a road-realignment project. The Tennessean reports that Metro Councilman Russ Pulley has filed a bill that would authorize Metro to seize the Krystal and CVS properties on Hillsboro Pike if current negotiations do not prove fruitful. "We're just not satisfied with the prospect of being able to acquire the property with the way it's going," Pulley told The Tennessean, referring ...

Counterweight Chandelier by Alison Berger for Holly Hunt

Two things I love in a chandelier are counterweights and pulleys. Given her series of chandeliers inspired by Galileo’s gravitational pulley studies, Alison Berger must also appreciate these mechanical details. Berger’s Counterweight Chandelier for Holly Hunt combines crystal wheels, weights, and handblown pendants. Each component can be raised and lowered, making the Counterweight Chandelier a changeable creation, perfect for people who like to move things around. It is also ideal for engine...

DIY home generator

Hey folks, I've been kicking around the idea of building a belt driven generator. The more I look into generators the more I see they are not built for joe schmoe like me. They either are cheap Chinese generators that are constantly tearing themselves apart or HUGE industrial gensets. I don't need 20 kw or even 5 kw. I think 2 kw sounds fine. Another issue is the lack of surge capacity. I want something that can power a 15 amp receptacle and start anything that will run on a 15 amp circuit. So...

You Will Love The Lesbian Sex Haiku Book (With Cats!)

Anna Pulley 's The Lesbian Sex Haiku Book (With Cats!) — a collection of sharp, stereotype-mocking haikus alongside impossibly charming illustrations of cats in "various stages of lesbian anxiety" drawn by Pulley's girlfriend, Kelsey Beyer — has its origins in a dark period of Pulley's life."Basically, in 2010, my life fell apart," Pulley tells Refinery29. "My fiancée dumped me and my dad got lung cancer — he's much better now, thankfully — and I was working at an internship and making s...

What Makes the Stradivarius Special? It Was Designed to Sound Like a Female Soprano Voice, With Notes Sounding Like Vowels, Says Researcher

What makes violins made by the Stradivari and Guarneri families as valuable to musicians as they are to collectors? And how do we measure the optimal sound quality of a violin? One answer comes from violin maker Anton Krutz, who speculates that these highly-prized classical instruments sing so sweetly because they are “made with proportions and spirals based on Golden Ratio geometry.” Perhaps. But Joseph Nagyvary, a professor emeritus in biochemistry at Texas A&M University, discover...

Head Pulley

Sebastian Domingo writes: Pulley is found on this site: pulley set up. 10 lb pulley basically keeps your head in a upright position when your totally relaxed. Fully supported. Resistance is present to look down and left to right. The 5 lb reel feels like it just relieves the load by 1/2 to 2/3. Discuss "Head Pulley" at the Oz Report forum   link»

Head Pulley

Sebastian Domingo writes: Pulley is found on this site: machined one side which has a arbor machined into it for the reel to sit on. Then on the other side its just a cap strip using 3mm machine screws. The main hole for carabineer is done using 1/2 drill and then slotted on center with an end mill to allow use with a delta carabineer as well. Then machined to allow sitting at an angle on the carabineer. This one is hand made and I ...
