The Raspberry Pi store is much cooler than an Apple Store

The Raspberry Pi Foundation just unveiled a brand new project — an actual store. If you live in Cambridge in the U.K., you can now buy a bunch of sweet Raspberry Pis to tinker and develop some cool stuff. The Raspberry Pi has always been about making coding more accessible. And a physical retail space fits the bill. The foundation has developed a lineup of insanely cheap computers with an ARM-based processor, a bunch of ports, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The latest flagship model, the Raspberry P...

Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ is a compact yet powerful Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi Foundation just announced a brand new model. The Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ is basically a flagship Raspberry Pi on a smaller printed circuit board, with a few compromises. It costs $25, or $10 less than the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. The lineup is getting slightly confusing but bear with me for a second. If you want the best Raspberry Pi, you should get the 3 Model B+. It comes with a 1.4GHz ARMv8 quad-core processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet (max 300 Mbps), USB 2.0 and HDMI. T...

Raspberry Cheesecake Bars

Raspberries and cheesecake are a classic combination that you’ll find frequently on menus, even though raspberries come in the form of a coulis more often than they show up as whole berries. But when raspberries are in season, I prefer to use them as much as I can and these Raspberry Cheesecake Bars are one delicious way to do just that. Raspberries are known for their sweet-tart flavor, which contrasts well with the rich tanginess of the cream cheese in a cheesecake. This recipe is no exceptio...

Raspberry Creme Brulee

Creme brulee is a dessert that we all love to indulge in from time to time. The delicate custard combined with a crisp, caramelized sugar crust is a match made in heaven. Often, creme brulees are served with a few berries and a sprig of fresh mint on the side. Berries go well with cream, so why not bake the berries right into the custard in the first place? This Raspberry Creme Brulee has fresh berries baked right into a vanilla custard, and it’s topped with a perfectly caramelized sugar crust....

Peanut Butter Coffee Cake with Raspberries

Growing up, I ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in my lunch more times than I can count. I still love the combination of sweet, fruity jam and savory, sticky peanut butter whether I’m enjoying it in a sandwich or in a PB&J-inspired dessert. This Peanut Butter Coffee Cake with Raspberries is a brunch option that is inspired by this classic sandwich, featuring a peanut butter cake that is studded with fresh raspberries and topped with a buttery streusel. The batter for this cake is very easy...

White Chocolate Raspberry Skillet Cookie

Skillet cookies have really taken off in popularity in the last year or so, and if you’re not making them at home already, you should definitely put them on your “must try” list. The huge cookies are baked in oven-safe skillets and are jumbo sized, with crisp edges and slightly gooey centers. You can wait for them to cool and cut them into individual slices, or you can serve them up while they are still warm, just as you might serve a fruit cobbler. Skillet cookies can also be packed with more ...

Raspberry Yogurt Cake Recipe

Buy Clotilde's latest book, The French Market Cookbook! Yogurt Cake is a staple of French home baking: it is very easy to make and I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t like it. What’s notable about the method is that it calls for two (half-cup) tubs of yogurt, and you then use the empty tubs to measure out the rest of the ingredients. This no-scale recipe is a rare exception to the French usage, in which quantities are measured by weight rather than volume. It is very popular with kids, who ...

Raspberry Almond Bars

When you think of bar cookies, you probably think about blondies and brownies before any other type of cookie. This is fair, as they are some of the most popular bars to bake, but they’re also not the only bar worth baking. These Raspberry Almond Bars are tender, buttery bars that are unique in a sea of brownie-like cookies. They have a softer, cake-like texture, and they are loaded with fresh raspberries and crunchy toasted almonds. For a bar that is so easy to make, this is absolutely delicio...

Red, White and Blueberry Scones

When holidays like the 4th of July and Memorial Day come around, I always plan to include some red, white and blue desserts to get into the spirit. These Red, White and Blue Scones are a brunch option, rather than a dessert one, and they are loaded with raspberries, blueberries and white chocolate chips. The buttermilk scones are very colorful and are bursting with flavors that make them a good choice for any summer occasion, as well as for times when you’re feeling a bit patriotic. I used a bu...

Individual Raspberry Peach Cobblers

Summer means that there is an abundance of fresh fruit to choose from at the market, and that means that fruit desserts become mainstays on my dessert menus. There are times when my kitchen is bursting with fruit and I have enough to make multiple pies, but there are other times when I’m down to a single peach or a handful of berries. This recipe for Individual Raspberry Peach Cobblers can work no matter how much, or how little, fruit you have on hand, making it an ideal dessert for just about ...

Chocolate Raspberry Magic Bars

When it comes to easy recipes, magic bars are hard to beat. They’re an unusual type of bar cookie where the ingredients are layered together, then topped with sweetened condensed milk. The milk binds everything together and adds some nice sweetness to the mixture. These Chocolate Raspberry Magic Bars are a little unusual because they include fresh raspberries and layer of raspberry jam, adding a fruitiness to the bars and giving them a completely different flavor profile than most magic bar rec...

Raspberry Picking

In our ongoing quest to get out and do fun things with the kids and show them where their food comes from, we went to pick raspberries recently at 3 Birds Berry Farm in Blacksburg. The kids had a blast, wouldn’t listen to us and ran around everywhere. Sigh. Life with toddlers. This farm had a really nice patch of flowers and allowed the kids to pick their own to make a bouquet. La Ferme de Viltain

It’s not a drag to be in Paris in August. In fact, those who stay in town always say the same thing – “This is the best time of year to be in Paris.” (Or, “Wouldn’t it be incroyable if it was like this all year?”) Even though Paris is a lot smaller, imagine if 85% of the people left New York City or San Francisco in the summer, how different the cities would be. My friends who have kids have told me they wish they could go on vacation during another month because it’s harder to travel in August...

Raspberry Bourbon Cocktail

To go with the Raspberry Chicken I made for dinner tonight, I created this Raspberry Bourbon Cocktail. Muddle Raspberries, Mint, Ginger and Lime in simple syrup. Stain into glass with ice. Summer Fruit Tart with Almond Cream

This is one of the simplest fruit tarts to make. Juicy fruits are embedded in a rich almond frangipan, making it easy to slice, and it keeps well, too. So now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about nectarines. Peaches get a lot of press. Yes, they’re juicy and yes they’re sweet. But honestly, I prefer the more assertive flavor of nectarines, with their slightly tooth-resistant skin, just enough to provide contrast to the juicy flesh, but not enough to make them necessary to peel....

What you can do now to help your baby love flavorful food

by Leah Speer posted in Products & Prizes When my third son was born 10 months ago, I decided in advance to give him first foods with flavor and variety. Why?
