Porsche And Penske Team Up For IMSA And WEC Effort

Photo: Michelin Racing USA Team Penske has been kicking butt in racing for decades, and for a lot of that time the team has been powered by Porsche. Way back in the 1960s Roger Penske himself was racing various four-cam Porsche prototype sports racing roadsters. By the 1970s, Penske and hired driver Mark Donohue were a global force, and their Porsche 917/30 became known as an all-conquering machine in the Can Am series. More recently, from 2006 to 2008, the bright yellow DHL-sponsored Penske Po...

Takuma Sato wins his second Indianapolis 500 at empty track

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — At an eerily empty Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Takuma Sato snatched a second Indianapolis 500 victory in an odd and unsatisfying finish to “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” Sato held off Scott Dixon and won under caution after teammate Spencer Pigot crashed with five laps remaining in Sunday’s race, held in front of empty grandstands for the first time in 104 runnings because of the pandemic. Pigot needed medical attention on the track, the crash scene was a massive debris...

Newgarden gives Penske sweep of Iowa doubleheader

Josef Newgarden led nearly wire-to-wire Saturday night to win the IndyCar race at Iowa Speedway, giving team owner Roger Penske a sweep of the doubleheader and his fourth victory across three series this weekend. Newgarden, who started on the pole, thought he had the best car in the opener Friday night, and he was irate when a series of misfortunes left him fifth and well back of winning teammate Simon Pagenaud. Will Power finished second after wrecking out of the doubleheader opener.

'His Mona Lisa' - Penske adds golden touch to iconic Indy

The purists can relax: Roger Penske did not remove troughs from the men's bathrooms at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It's been six months since Penske completed his purchase of the 111-year-old national landmark, a fixer-upper that he has already lavished with some $15 million worth of improvements. “It's like you just bought a Ferrari,” said Penske, “but it was rained on.”

Goodbye Evinrude. Goodbye Johnson. Goodbye Middle Class Boating

STURDEVANT, Wisc. – Blame it on COVID-19? And say goodbye to another glorious piece of America. This time it is the Evinrude outboard motor, since 1907 a part of U.S. boating life ever since its invention by Ole Evinrude. Brad Keselowski wins 600 to extend Jimmie Johnson’s losing streak

CONCORD, N.C. — Brad Keselowski extended Jimmie Johnson’s losing streak to 102 races, holding off the seven-time NASCAR champion in overtime early Monday in the Coca-Cola 600. Keselowski started in the back of the field, worked his way to the front at Charlotte Motor Speedway and gambled in not pitting when caution stopped Chase Elliott from winning with two laps remaining. Elliott pitted and Keselowski led a train of eight cars that stayed on the track. He lined up in front of Alex Bowman on th...
