Armed Rallies At State Capitols? Beware: Potential False Flag Event

Armed Rallies At State Capitols? Beware: Potential False Flag Events Montana – -(AmmoLand.com)- Dear Montana Shooting Sports Association Friends, You may have heard Internet or other chatter urging armed rallies at state capitols for and before the inauguration. There are some who claim that such proposals are provocateur efforts to create false flag incidents to demonize gun owners. I can't say for sure, but that's possible. What I do know for sure is that any such demonstrations are not e...

How Section 230 might not help Amazon in the Parler lawsuit

Parler sued Amazon [PDF of complaint] yesterday alleging three things: antitrust violations, breach of contract and tortious interference. Each of these claims relates to Amazon’s decision to kick Parler off of AWS servers. To use Section 230’s language, Amazon took action to “restrict access to or availability of material.” That language comes from Section 230(c)(2), which reads more fully as: No provider . . . of an interactive computer service shall be held liable on account of . . . any acti...

How Utah Is Confronting Its Gun Suicide Epidemic

Ian Ayres and Fredrick Vars The stress, isolation, and economic displacement of the pandemic combined with the spike in gun sales – especially to new gun owners -- has created a toxic cocktail that will likely lead to a surge in gun suicides.   In normal times, we lose more than 20,000 Americans each year to gun suicide.   But a CDC surveytells us a whopping 10.7% of adults seriously considered suicide in June. And more and more Americans have a ready means to take their own lives –...

Clippers count on Patrick Beverley’s elite energy through ups and downs

Patrick Beverley had a Dec. 25 to remember last season. Think back to the closing seconds of that Clippers-at-Lakers showdown. A Christmas battle that went the visitors’ way, 111-106, thanks to Beverley’s quick hands and the NBA’s slow-motion replay rule. Remember the 6-foot-1 guard swarming LeBron James as the Lakers’ star rose up for the potential go-ahead shot with just a 3 ticks remaining. Recall the Clippers’ all-world pest pushing a hand into James’ shot — and the replay showing the ball g...

Nook app for Windows suddenly can't download books

Is anyone else having this problem? Just a week or two ago, I suddenly couldn't download in my Nook Windows app--new purchases or old. On two different computers. Customer service killed 45 minutes on the question and couldn't help. Said it was likely a result of the recent updates and fixes from the October debacle. (They didn't use that word.) Fortunately, I have most of my Nook library dedrm'd and saved in Calibre, so this only affects my newest purchases. But I wondered if it was just me...

It’s time to think seriously about breaking up utilities

The most annoying part of living in the myriad potential wildfire areas around California lately has been a series of PSPS’s (public safety power shutdowns) imposed by companies like Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric. The stoppages, sometimes lasting as long as three days, are plain acknowledgements from the companies that their equipment and their maintenance practices are unsafe, inadequate to protect individuals from harm and possible death. This ...

Rams wait to hear how bad Andrew Whitworth’s knee injury is

INGLEWOOD — The Rams had no update after the game on the severity of Andrew Whitworth’s knee injury, which knocked the left tackle out of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks in the second quarter. Given Whitworth’s age, 38, it’s not unreasonable to think that an injury requiring season-ending surgery could spell the end of his 15-year NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals and Rams. If it does, the two-time All-Pro was a leader right to the end. As Rams players — and Seattle quarterback R...

Tucker Carlson Apologizes for Claiming 96-Year-Old Georgia Voter Was a Dead Man

Fox News host Tucker Carlson opened his show Wednesday by proclaiming that “truth really matters more than ever.” What he was about to report was “not a theory,” he said, adding: “It happened and we can prove it.”But two days later, he opened with an apology. One of the voters he claimed had cast a ballot from the grave on Friday’s episode—claims that were amplified by the Trump campaign and by members of Congress like Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL)—had not actually done so after all.The late James Blal...

DA won’t file case against reporter arrested by deputies

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined on Thursday, Sept. 24, to file a case against a reporter pinned to the ground, handcuffed and taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies while covering the arrest of a demonstrator. Prosecutors cited insufficient evidence against Josie Huang of KPCC and LAist, noting that it “does not appear that she was intentionally attempting to interfere with the deputies.” Prosecutors said she also was “not given the opportunity to comply with their d...

The Big Charlie Hebdo Trial Is a Sham

PARIS—In the first week of the Charlie Hebdo terror trial, it’s hard to find solace for any party involved. The terrorist attackers themselves are dead. The survivors and families of the victims—-living in fear and agony ever since—will sit through 10 weeks of details and denials of the twisted terror plots. These suspects have already been found guilty in the court of public opinion—and yet most of them are just minions and losers, whose chance of a fair trial is questionable. One by one the han...

How a musician locks onto a rhythm, according to science

When a person locks onto a beat, it's because their brain rhythms have become aligned with it.Listening and physically performing are brain functions not directly related to rhythm synchronization. The study tracked EEG brain activity during listening, playing along, and recreating rhythms. For as long as anyone remembers, parents have rocked their babies to sleep. The simple, regular rhythm soothes and relaxes a wee one, and research has shown that the same thing can even help adults sleep and ...
