Kings hopeful they can get well again on the road

Records show the Kings have roughly the same record at home as on the road. They are 12-15-2 at Staples Center, 11-15-4 away from it. Each mark is good for 26 points. But after going 3-2-1 on their most recent road trip, the Kings just finished a homestand in which they went 0-2-1. After the Kings dropped a 3-2 decision to the Stanley Cup-champion Washington Capitals on Monday night at Staples Center, rookie forward Austin Wagner talked about the lack of success in their friendly confines. He wa...

‘Beat LA’ Has Become a Bruins’ Benchmark

For the second time in three seasons, the Boston Bruins have done their part in entirely fulfilling the notorious ‘Beat LA’ chants, which have rendered the city hoarse over the past four eventful months. With two wins over the Los Angeles Kings in a week, the Bruins vaulted over a benchmark of sorts, directly correlated to their ensuing play in recent runs to the playoffs. Prior to a 4-2 victory on Saturday at Staples Center, pushing the B’s winning streak to five games, the teams played in four...

Kings’ Alex Iafallo working hard for goals, wins

LOS ANGELES — Kings forward Alex Iafallo plays for a team that has had difficulty putting the puck in the net this season. The Kings were averaging 2.40 goals going into Monday’s game against Washington at Staples Center, with only the Ducks lower at 2.20. It is therefore understandable there would be some personal scoring droughts along the way, and not just from Iafallo, who has played the majority of the season on the top line centered by Anze Kopitar. Iafallo in December scored goals in four...

EL SEGUNDO — The NHL trade deadline is next Monday. It might as well be one of those unofficial Canadian holidays, like John Candy’s birthday. It’s the most fun one can have until July 1, known colloquially as Stupid Contract Day in the hockey world. It won’t be much fun in Southern California. We’re looking at a no-pl...

Kings rookie Austin Wagner longs for winning days

For a young guy, rookie forward Austin Wagner knows all about his Kings and their Stanley Cup titles in 2012 and 2014. When he was asked postgame Saturday night after the Boston Bruins scored two late goals to defeat his team 4-2 at Staples Center if this is a learning process — especially for the young guys — Wagner spoke like a veteran. “All of us want to win,” said Wagner, whose Kings are 23-29-6 (52 points) and reside at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. LOS ANGELES — It’s a small world after all. L.A. basketball fans are well aware that Lawrence Frank, the Clippers’ president of basketball operations, traded Mike Muscala to the Lakers for Ivica Zubac at the trade deadline last week. Coyotes Weekly: Reinforcements on the Way

Last week at this time, the Arizona Coyotes were in the midst of a four-game losing streak during which their power play wasn’t scoring and their playoff hopes were diminishing by the day. Why the 61st Annual Grammy Awards Telecast Was the Queerest, Fiercest, and the Best Yet

None Even if you didn't watch it, you knew that this year's Grammys were like any other's year's Grammy Award telecast: it was simply far, far too long.Yet that wasn't the only negative to be noted on the ceremony's 61st iteration. This time around, there were far too few awards were given out during the televised portion, several acceptance speech winners were played off (and twice abruptly cut off), one of the night's big winners wasn't even there (Childish Gambino/Donald Glover), and Recordi...
