Dog Sleeping Patterns and Behaviors

According to Casper Mattress Company, dogs have distinct sleeping patterns and behaviors. Maybe a Dog Bed can make the difference? Here is how they list out: Dreaming: Yes, dogs can dream too! While it’s difficult to uncover exactly what dogs dream about, we know the brain processes their events of the day during sleep. So we can assume they’re dreaming of what happened during the day — like a walk around the block or chasing a squirrel. Twitching: Just like humans, dogs may twitch in their sl...

I’m a Virgo

Amazon ordered to series a dark comedy titled, “I’m a Virgo,” from “Sorry to Bother You” scribe/director Boots Riley. Jharrel Jerome (“When They See Us”) stars in the series, the coming of age tale of 13-foot-tall Black man who lives in Oakland, CA, which is a co-production between “The Morning Show” producer Media Res and Amazon Studios.   I am not sure this has any astrological content but I do like the title.

10 Dog Sleeping Positions and What They Mean

Casper mattresses has produced a fun and informative guide on dog sleeping positions and what they mean. Just like humans, dogs sleep in a variety of positions. Spiritualist Drawings That Open Portals to Other Dimensions

Maria Cynkier of Atlas Obscura writes about an interesting art exhibit: Often compared to the work of Hilma af Klint, dozens of rarely-seen drawings by the late Swiss healer and Spiritualist are on view at the Serpentine Gallery. LONDON — Entering the Serpentine Gallery from the cacophony of Hyde Park feels otherworldly. Apart from occasional whispers, camera shutter sounds, and visitors’ footsteps moving through the constellation of rooms, there is no noise. I’m sitting in the Gallery’s centra...

I'll Be Watching Hallmark's Sixth "Kitten Bowl" and First "Cat Bowl" Today

Charlotte Lipman from MediaVillage reports on the Kitten and Cat Bowls on TV today. I'll be tuning in! Last summer I reported live from the sidelines of Kitten Bowl VI, which will be telecast this Sunday at 2 p.m. on Hallmark Channel. Kitten Bowl VI is one of Hallmark's many programs this month that supports Adoption Ever After, the company's larger mission to educate audiences on pet adoption and inspire them to make a shelter pet part of the family.  On Saturday, Kitten Bowl's brand-ne...

The Museum of the Dog Opens in NYC

Exciting news from the American Kennel Club. They are reopening their Museum of the Dog after years in St Louis and creating a new home for it in New York City. ArtNet reports: The Museum of the Dog is coming to New York. But before you dismiss it as yet another pop-up gimmick (or pup-up, as it were), rest assured that this is an earnest affair. It was founded by the American Kennel Club as a tribute to man’s best friend, and is filled with traditional oil paintings, porcelain, prints, and drawi...

Jack Black listens to K-pop songs and attempts to sing them back so Korean contestants can try to guess the song

In South Korea, there is a popular TV (and completely wacky) variety show called Infinite Challenge. From what I've been able to gather, contestants go through a series of challenges with celebrity guests. In January 2016, as part of a promotion for the film Kung Fu Panda 3, Jack Black guest starred on the show. In this segment, he is shown with wearing headphones and bouncing his arms around, all while listening to K-pop. The challenge for the Korean contestants is to guess what song Bla...

When Jewish Palm Readers Rubbed Elbows With Pushcart Peddlers

If you peel back the layers of wallpaper in any older New York City apartment, you’re bound to find something intriguing—even if it’s only more ugly wallpaper. A decade ago, though, renovations at 97 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side led to something more mysterious—an advertisement for a “palmist and mind reader,” Professor Dora Meltzer. Charging 15 cents–and up!–(about $4 today), “Professor” Meltzer could not only guess your name and age, but also give you advice. Who would need the “Pr...

Occult Based Novels

For those who may be interested in fiction regarding the occult, there are two book that may be of interest. Wolf on a String is, according to Publishers Weekly, a brooding, atmospheric whodunit set in 16th-century Prague. Christian Stern, the bastard son of the Prince-Bishop of Regensburg, has arrived in that city in the hopes of winning the favor of Rudolf II, the ruler of the Holy Roman Empire, and obtaining a place among the court’s learned men, such as astrologer Johannes Kepler and Tycho...

A Psychic Healer Helped the Russians Navigate the Fall of Communism

Atlas Obscura reports that on October 9, 1989, broadcasts around the world were buzzing with news heralding the end of the Soviet Union. Protests had broken out in East Germany, and over the following weeks they crescendoed with the fall of the Berlin Wall. After the evening news on Soviet television ended that night, however, the screen showed a close-up of a man’s face. He spoke in soothing tones as he gazed through the camera into the eyes of the mass audience on the other side of the screen....

Deloitte’s Advice for Brands in Binge-Watching, Snackable Content Era

Deloitte’s 11th Digital Democracy Survey finds Americans are consuming more media than ever before via streaming and binge watching, with millennials leading the charge. With 84 percent of Americans on social networks, multitasking and social network influence continue to accelerate and challenge traditional revenue models. Ads are being skipped as consumers opt for more free content changing the revenue proposition for brands to new platforms, more product placement and geo-location ads on sma...
