Toyota Supra: More Power Than Advertised?

Not everyone was enthusiastic about Toyota’s decision to co-develop its Supra with BMW. As an icon of the brand, some complained that Bavarian involvement sullied what should have a been a purely Japanese automobile. We wouldn’t go that far (though certain telltale signs of BMW’s hand come off as slightly off-putting). Still, an interior that borrows heavily […] The post Toyota Supra: More Power Than Advertised? appeared first on The Truth About Cars.

2020 Toyota Supra: The Best Toyota Sports Car?

The 2020 Toyota Supra is the first Supra in the United States in 21 years.  Toyota GAZOO Racing applied their vision when engineering the new Supra.  Expect the Supra in July with a fairly reasonable MSRP considering the performance.  Much has been said about the fifth-gen, 2020 Toyota Supra. We all know how the Supra is a rehashed version of the new BMW Z4, but that’s not exactly right. And while we’re still left pondering on the fine line between Toyota and BMW sports cars, I think it’s time...

2020 Toyota GR Supra First Drive – To Enjoy Properly, Ignore the Context

The howling denizens of the Internet may not be a representative sample of real life, but they are loud nonetheless, and they’ve seemingly had it in for the Toyota Supra since the wraps came off. Toyota GR Supra GT4 ‘Concept’ Previews Probable Turnkey Racer

While the reintroduction of the Supra will undoubtedly result in custom builds, where cars are purchased only to be gutted and rebuilt as a track day vehicle, Toyota is examining the possibility of doing all that itself. Supra Vs. Z4: The Fine Line Between Toyota & BMW Sports Cars

The 2020 Toyota Supra is destined for greatness. But there’s a problem. The BMW Z4 M40i is basically the same car albeit with a more powerful motor. Which begs the question: when is a Toyota sports car not a BMW? Where does one end and the other begin? The much anticipated hype is over. In the immortal words of my colleague Tony Borroz, it’s time to stop frothing at the mouth since the 2020 Toyota Supra is finally here. And boy, what a journey it has been, huh? I’m pretty sure Toyota did ev...

The New Toyota Supra – Our Wish List

It is always very exciting when a legendary car makes a comeback after years of absence. In the case of the new Toyota Supra it is doubly exciting because unlike mot comeback legends, this is not a million-dollar supercar no one can afford. It’s a mid-range, blue-collar sports car… or at least it should be.  The things we are hearing about the new Toyota Supra, we have to say, are for the most part encouraging. They say the car’s going to be a light and nimble and compact. They say it will h...

New Toyota Supra NASCAR Unveiled for 2019 Xfinity Series

If one were asked to associate the Toyota Supra with a field of motorsport it is best suited for, one would almost certainly go for drifting. The Japanese character of the car lends itself verily to that kind of activities. But with the new 2019 Supra Toyota is taking the car to a wildly different route. They’re taking it NASCAR racing.  Of course, Toyota is no stranger to NASCAR. We all remember their Tundras and Camrys dominating the sport for years. But still, the idea of a Toyota Supra N...
