I Love the “New” PGA Tour

I love the “New” PGA Tour…absolutely love it! With COVID-19 and this damn pandemic laying waste to sports and all our lives for that matter, I was sure that I had zero interest in any sport and their plans for “restarting”. I live a short drive from the first epicenter of this mess. I drive to New York City and Manhattan in the time it takes for a quick nine holes to visit my daughter and her husband. The disaster… Continue Reading →

‘We Could See Someone Break 60 This Week,’ Says Ian Baker-Finch On The Travelers Championship

(CBSNewYork/CBS Local Sports) — The PGA Tour travels north to Connecticut this week for the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands. TPC River Highlands Profile: Shot-Makers Tested At Travelers Championship

(CBS New York/CBS Local) — TPC River Highlands is once again the setting for this week’s Travelers Championship. The scenic and scintillating course happens to be the oldest course in the TPC network, as well as the shortest at a mere 6,841 yards. Though it was upgraded a few years ago, including the removal of about 50 bunkers and repositioning of several others, the par-70 layout remains an old-style test of golf. And it’s still demanding throughout. Situated on a bluff overlooking the Connect...

Top field, no fans for this year's Travelers Championship

The tournament director for this week's Travelers Championship had an idea. How about filling the natural amphitheater around the 18th green at TPC River Highlands with giant video boards showing fans watching the event and cheering from home. In the end, Grube said officials decided to keep it as a TV-only event.

Bubba Watson Owns The Travelers

Paul Casey knew he needed to keep going low if he wanted to hold on to win the Travelers Championship. Going into Sunday’s final round Casey held a four shot lead but on a course that yields notoriously low rounds, anything near even par was trouble. After nine holes he was at even par and heading down the leaderboard. If you want to win here one thing you can’t do on the back nine at TPC River Highlands is splash… Continue Reading →
