However, technology is a double-edged sword. While it has made it easier...

Airline Baggage Fees for US to Europe Carriers

When flying between the United States and Europe, you probably know that it’s best to pack light. After all, the less luggage you have to haul around town the better. Related: 10 tips for packing for a two-week European trip For Cheapos, there’s one more obvious reason to keep the amount of luggage to a minimum: checked-baggage charges. He said an officer identified the magazine during security screening, but the wrong bag was pulled from the line. Google Assistant now helps you check-in to airline flights so you can stop frantically searching for your confirmation number (GOOG, GOOGL)

Google announced a number of Google Assistant updates on Tuesday, during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). One of our favorite updates helps users check in to their flights and retrieve their boarding passes by simply saying, " Hey Google, check-in to my flight."  For now, the travel assistance is only available on United Airline's domestic flights.  Other useful updates to Google Assistant include, interpreter mode, Google Maps integration, and auto-punctuation for messages.  Tired o...

Someone posted the codes to every United cockpit online

Over the weekend, someone inadvertently leaked United Airline’s cockpit door codes online online. Anyone who wants to access a cockpit needs a code to get in. Even then, the pilots can override and block their entrance, but merely having the codes would be a coup for anyone looking to cause mischief on a flight. According to the Wall Street Journal, the breach wasn’t the result of hacking, but someone posting the codes to “a public website.” It appears to be human error, and the company said in ...

United Airline’s CEO Contrition Tour: Here We Go Again?

Although it turns out that United Airlines isn’t the worst offender when it comes to involuntarily bumping paying passengers (that title goes to JetBlue for reasons explained here), that’s not enough to get it off the hook during a week that Forbes dubbed its CEO’s “contrition tour.” In this era of a digital court of public opinion thanks to the Internet, smartphones and social media have provided a 24/7 public lens on brands’ behaviors in turbulent times—and near-instant viral video—and a glob...

Can You Be Removed from an Overbooked Flight?

The video of Dr. David Dao being dragged down the aisle of United Airlines flight is still fresh in everyone’s mind. If you haven’t seen it by now, you are one of the few. The videos have gone viral on YouTube and have been viewed millions of times. Probably worse than the incident itself is United Airlines ham-fisted “apology.” CEO Oscar Munoz offered a weak apology for the way it “re-accomodated” Dr. Dao. Three cops dragging a bloody physician off a plane is a “re-accomodation”? It gets w...

This Senator Compared Abortions To Euthanizing Animals At The Zoo

Yes, you read that headline correctly. In a story noted on Broadly , Missouri State Senator Bob Onder (R), opposed a tax increase that would benefit the St. Louis Zoo. Why? Partly because the bill would ban employers from discriminating against employees who’ve had an abortion, use contraception, or are pregnant.Onder then gave a fiery speech which drew parallels between abortion clinics and the zoo. He incorrectly noted that McDonald’s and the St. Louis Zoo offer more regulations than abortion...
