Just made it for the first of many times. Delicious! It would be wonderful without the tomatoes, but with them it’s perfection.

Comment on perfect blueberry muffins by Vanessa

In reply to Ada. I made this delicious recipe for the first time today, and plan many repeats. I added the blueberries with the flour and found that quite a few of them sank to the bottom of my muffins regardless, so next time I’ll coat them with some of the flour before folding in with the rest of it.

How working at Google allows me to keep giving back

I was born in a small town in the South of France to an Algerian dad and a Vietnamese mom. Like many kids from immigrant families, I took school seriously because I saw success in the classroom as a way to fit in. I was incredibly lucky to have teachers in high school who spent extra hours after school pushing me and surfaced opportunities I wouldn’t have heard of otherwise. Without them, I probably would have settled for less. Instead I’m the first in my family to go to university. The helping ...

Comment on cinnamon sugar scones by Vanessa

I made these this morning and I liked how quick it was to put together. I weighed my dry ingredients and cut my butter in with a food processor. I thought the dough was a bit dry when I was kneading it but didn’t mess with it. I sprinkled the top with raw cane sugar. I baked them for 17 minutes. I checked them at 15 minutes but thought they could have more color. My scones came out fine, but they were a touch dry (although I possibly overbaked them). I enjoyed them with an iced latte. I’d make t...

Comment on zucchini butter spaghetti by Chris

In reply to Vanessa. I just made this for dinner and used a box grater on the largest side. Only took me a few minutes to grate and came out amazing! Used the other side of the grater for the cheese. This is such a great recipe, quick recipe! I served my boyfriend first and he immediately remarked after one bite “wow, this is good.” Thanks, Deb!

‘In the Heights’ Review: This Crowdpleasing Musical is Full of Big Emotions, Big Dreams, and Big Songs

When In The Heights opened on Broadway in 2008, it was a scrappy little show that could, the product of a college sophomore’s wild ambitions and talent that had been honed and tweaked for years before finally hitting the Great White Way. But more than two decades after Lin-Manuel Miranda initially conceived of In the Heights during his second year at Wesleyan, Miranda’s profile has far exceeded anything that he created pre-Hamilton. So returning to Miranda’s first stage musical made back when h...

Comment on chocolate olive oil cake by Vanessa

I made this last night using extra virgin olive oil, a mix of natural unsweetened and Dutch processed cocoa, and room temperature instant coffee. I baked it in a lined and greased 9 inch springform pan. I didn’t make the glaze because I prefer a dusting of powdered sugar or whipped cream. The cake came together really easily, but I had to bake mine for an extra 15 minutes. I would probably bake it longer than that if I make this again because my cake is too moist for my liking. I had a slice of...
